June 2007 Bandsters

NValicia, I didn't have attacks but I did get massive pain in my lower stomach. The doc pressed on the spot and I almost died and my stomach made funny noises. It was so bad that I was taking painkillers and took a few days off work. A partial unfill and liquids/mushies for two weeks fixed it up. Of course, it doesn't sound quite like your problem but don't hesitate in seeing that doctor.

It's great to hear from you Janine. We have Bob and Jillian in the Australian biggest loser. I was just watching them today. Love 'em both but Jillian is my fave due to her no-nonsense approach. By the way, the best way I got through my post-op lapband pain was by comparing to my wisdom teeth removal (didn't go for the local). The wisdom teeth was by far more painful. I can still hear the crunching and the jaw creaking. I can't even imagine how much suffering you must have gone through with the complications.

Missy, you are looking great. I must say it's an inspiration for me. Wow, you know you're doing well when your mother admits it.

PS Karla, I know you probablydidn't mean it to be but your post about your DH was hilarious about the whorin', the couch, the elephant and size 9. Hopefully, he's learnt his lesson.

Insub ~ I have to joke about him if I truly want to blow off my steam. He is very vocal and a lot of people don't like him. Hell, most of the time I don't like him. LOL. Just kiddin' ~ it's the stupid stuff he says that keeps me on my toes. I doubt he learned his lesson, but my birthday is next week so I'll see if he can redeem himself.

thanks everyone for the kind words. I certainly feel better than I did a year ago. I think I notice the most difference in how I sleep. I was never tested for sleep apnea, but I am now sure I had it in some degree. I can sleep through the night most nights and even if I have to get up to go the bathroom, I fall right back asleep. What a difference it makes in my energy level all day long!

We are accepting the final counter offer on the house tomorrow, so we are off to underwriting and plan to close on May 15th. I will be so glad to be out of the apartment and out in the country!

Hi everyone

I tested negative for H Pylori and seem to be having similar trouble to Nvalicia and your husband missy. I have what I call an attack. I end up in the bathroom throwing up air into a sink. I've had so many tests now and nowone seems to know what is causing it. I've been to my PCP, a gastroenterologist and back to the lapband doctor. He made me do a 3rd barium swallow (I should be radioactive by now) and everything is moving fine. I feel like everything is moving fine. He says it is not the band. I have had all the fill taken out for the second time. My gasto gave me pills to make my stomach work even though all the tests he put me through show that it is. The latest and greatest combination stopped a 3 week bout with whatever ailes me. I hadn't eaten in 3 weeks and was about to go to the PCP to get fluids and he had me try Zegerit and Arithromycin in pediatric liquid form. Magically the attacks stopped and I've been eating for a week. Then today out of nowwhere I had an attack. As soon as I can get the air out I feel better for a while. The lap band doctor says I'm burping but I keep telling him it is throwing up air. I get flush, my mouth waters and I feel it in the bottom of my stomach. That is no burp I've ever experienced. I'm at my wits end and I was close to removing the band but I can't. I hate that others are having problems but it makes me feel better because it seems in Melbourne I'm the only one. They discontinued our message board (probably because of me) for legal reasons but before they did, no one on it had problems except hunger and too much fill. Since I have no fill, I know that is not it. I'm glad to see everyone doing so well. Missy I looked at your pics and now I have to go do mine. I keep thinking I'm still huge and people tell me I look great but I just can't see it. I remember in high school I lost down to 125 and still felt like I had the fattest thighs. I was on the tennis team and wished my thighs were like Kim's. I recently saw a picture of the two of us and mine were smaller. Really woke me up. I'm trying to see the thinner me.

HUGS Big Baby!!

As for Stef, I texted with her today and I guess she is without power for the time being, due to the nasty storms. Hopefully she'll be up and running soon. She misses you all!

jojo7, haven't heard from you in a while. Your weight loss looks amazing but it's terrible that you're having a mystery problem. I think there is a yahoo group for bandits in Melbourne which is quite active. You should also start a thread on this board (if you haven't already). I bet someone has experienced the same thing. Hopefully, they'll have some insight for you.

bigbaby you r in my thoughts and prayers, losing a grandmother is difficult. stay close with family, it helps.

jojo sorry to hear about your struggles, hang in there and hopefully they will find out what is wrong so you can get filled up again soon! there is nothing more frustrating when they can't find an answer!

I didnt realize Texas was having weather problems again, Stef is a trooper, thanks for checking Suzzzie. the weather across the country has been very tough on many this winter season. I should be happy that virginia did not get hit so hard, but the rain and cold weather is miserable to me regardless!

Yesterday it was 80 here and wonderful. this morning my husband and I took a very long walk with our dogs, I fast paced it and it felt really good. I love when spring comes! Maybe I am finally on a role, exercise has been difficult for me this season.

well, hope all of you are having a nice weekend.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
