ughghg - so I threw up for the first time. It was on Friday night. I was very excited about getting the new Harry Potter book and just wanted to take a few bites before I started to read it (after midnight). I ate too fast and had this HORRIBLE pain in my stomach/throat. I know it wasn't the food because I'd had the same stuff for dinner, I jsut ate too much or too fast. Anyway, I paced the house for 45 minutes with this horrible pain until I was finally able to throw up, crying and everything!

Has anyone else thrown up yet? It was HORRIBLE. I've barely eaten since, because I don't want to go through that ever, ever again.

I got my second fill this morning. This one hurt! But just from the needle, like a bad shot. I lived. She put 1cc in this time and says, "The rule is, if the meat don't go down, it's too tight and you come back!" O-TAY!

So the weird thing is, now my stomach is growling like crazy...I'm STARVING! I haven't been this hungry in a long time. And I'm on liquids today, of course. So Jello it is!

Happy Monday to all! Have a fantastic week! :whoo:

Pippz - I've had that pain and feeling just about once a day since I got my very TIGHT fill. I haven't thrown up yet, but wish that I could have. I have found that if I wait a few minutes after the pain begins, I walk around and sip something HOT. It seems to help with the pain and make it pass quicker. If it gets tighter like everyone tells me it will and this pain stuff happens more often, I'm going to go ask for my doc to take a little out. I've found that if I sit down and look at my food for 5 minutes, it makes me slow down and take small bites.

Owwwie! I've got to learn to SLOW down.

I am so hungry today. At work I ate a yogurt around 10am. Starving at 12 I ate about 3/4 cup of tuna - I was STUFFED. Then about 2pm I was starving again. Ate about 1/2 cup tuna - stuffed again. Weird! Shouldn't I stay full longer? And I mean I was hungry! My stomach was growling and everything, Water didn't satisfy me.

SO I get home from work at 4:30 and decide to make myself a wrap with turkey and grated cheese and FF ranch drsg. I was so hungry I forgot to chew well and STUCK CITY. I paced the house for about 20 minutes before it finally went down. Thought I was going to drown in my own saliva!!

Now, I have slowed down and I feel better. I'm stuffed again - and I've probably only had about 1/2 of the wrap. I'm sure I'll be hungry again in about an hour. Sigh...

Made an appointment for my next fill - Aug 16. Yes, I have to wait 4 weeks between fills.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the "stuck" incidents - sounds very painful. I can assure you that by sharing your experiences, I am being more careful to eat slowly and chew, chew, chew.

Suzzzie - those diet quotes were funny. It reminded me of something I did when I arrived at my hotel tonight. There was bottled Water and a package of Oreos waiting for me in the room since I am a frequent guest. Not trusting myself with those Oreos, I crushed them to fine powder and put the package in the trash. Then still not trusting myself, I went back, tore open the package and emptied the powder into three other trash cans. I will not be tempted to dig through the trash for the crumbs (I don't think!)

Suzzie, sounds like you're not eating enough (or any) fibre. That's why you're hungry. I know Protein is supposed to fill you by balancing blood sugar but it has no fibre. I try to have vegies at every meal including high-fibre vegetables as well as lentils or Beans and in the morning, hot porridge or bran + strawberries/finely cut prune.

Also, you need fibre to stay regular. I guess I'm not as protein obsessed as some people are (glad my doc's not either). I understand its importance but would rather have a more balanced diet. It's a controversial opinion on here but I think it's just an Atkins-related fad and that too much protein much makes the body acidic.

I ate a half a nashi pear today and it became stuck from not chewing properly. It hurt but went down after a few minutes and some hot Water. Cucumber was fine but I took the skin off.

I have read about this 'first-bite syndrome' on this forum. Things go down/become stuck on the first bite. Some people say it helps to drink a little bit of hot water just before eating, then you're fine.

Interesting to read about the adventures in popcorn. Well done on choosing the small! I can resist popcorn but I'll just pretend I never read 'Oreos'.

Lost 2.2pounds/1 kilo when I saw the band physio today. Yay! Just the mental boost I needed after using very little for the past couple of weeks.

lo2us I have not had a fill yet, YUK!, so I am thinking that is why popcorn is not bothering me, but this was the 1st time I had it and I ate it real slow. Popcorn was on my don't eat list, but my PA said due to useless calories, not because it would get stuck. I will be sure to ask about what you said after my fill.

pippz sorry to hear about your pbing and vomiting experience. this is my fear upon my fill. I want my fill so baddddd, but I am afraid if I will be sure I don't create these situations. I cry when I am in pain or if I have to vomit, always did. I don't want my dh to see me, because for sure I will get a lecture on what I did wrong!

suzzzie sounds like you are learning through the process. I have not had my fill and I was banded June 7. I feel like I have been stuck on hold for EVER! I am sure my doc will wait a time between the 2 nd due to my first being later.

insub I don't want to sound gross, but I have big bathroom issues. I eat Beans, salad, and still can't seem to have movement! I am frustrated. I drink Water too. I am going to ahve to get something any thoughts anyone?

Haven't heard from Toni and Nina iin a bit, hope all is going well!

At any rate one or both of them got stuck and ow I tell ya what OUCH it hurt! I tried to throw up to make it go away quicker but no can do! Sooooooo by the time it finally passed the family was done eating but stayed at the table for me to eat and talked to me!! awwww I know they are sooooo sweet! This has been one of my dad's worst fears is seeing me in pain from eating something to fast and bless his heart he had to see it last night! :-( I am fine now though and STARVING!! I was supposed to get my 2nd fill yesterday (yes only a wk after my 1st) but I had to work out of town all day so I had to cancel it hmmm Not really for sure if I need it or not now!
I am definitely feeling the effects of my second fill yesterday.

It was a little harder to get my Protein Drink down this morning, but I got it all down in about 45 minutes to an hour.

I took tuna and some grapes with me to work today, and when I got to the third small bite of tuna, it was starting to stick. I stopped in time, thank goodness. It took about ten or fifteen minutes to subside. Tried again, same thing. Tried again, same thing.

So the realization I came to is that I can only eat two or three bites at a time so far. And it fills me up for a couple hours, too. So this is a good thing. This is different than how I felt after my first fill...if this is what true restriction feels like, I can live with this!

We'll see if it lasts.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can relate to the "lack of movement" issues! I eat brocolli every night almost, but it apparently isn't enough. I eat some fruit, but try to keep it minimal due to some fruits being so high in calories. Unfortunately, grapes are one of my faves and they are high in calories. The best is watermelon, but what banded person can eat a watermelon before it goes bad?!?!? LOL
I've resorted to ExLax a few times, but I just hate that you never know when and where it is going to kick in.
I may try the BeneFiber.
Try the benefiber, or try drinking a baby Apple Prune juice per day. They are 4 oz, 70 calories and taste really good. I enjoy them and drink one per day. It has made all the difference in the world.
And to edit, copy the post you want to edit before you click on the edit button, then click it and then delete everything in the box (all the smilies) and paste what you copied from the original post into the box, then edit away. Or just click on Go Advanced after clicking on Edit, there are still some tags to delete like < p & > but that's still a lot better than all the smilies.
Everyone keeps talking about the benefiber. I think I should try some. Haha. Lack of movements ya know... and like someone else said, fiber fills you up longer. I get paid Friday, I'll buy some when I do all my grocery shopping.
Today has been good. I had 1 small bite kinda stick for a second...mild sliming, then with some throat and tummy gurgles it passed and I was fine. So weird.
Where is everyone? We seem to be missing more than a few of our Junies around here lately.
      Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?
      2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜
        I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍
      I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!
      Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!
        I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗
        Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
