I was banded 5 years ago and I have been at goal for 4 years. A few months ago, I damn near killed myself with food poisoning (oysters, shutter). Now, almost every time I eat, I have to throw up a "slime ball". I am pretty sure my band has slipped, so my question is this.

Do you ever have slime if you have the sleeve or is that just a lap band thing? (I have enjoyed as much of it as I can stand.) :)

BTW: I am going to the Dr tomorrow to find out for sure, just trying to see what my options are.

Unfortunately you do get the slime with the sleeve and it's no fun. However that being said it doesn't happen to me very often.

Sliming does happen with the sleeve, but most often the cause is usually the same. Eating too large of a bite, taking the next bite too soon or not chewing well enough are the common factors. I believe this is true for the other WLS options, too, but correct me if I am mistaken. It is one of those things I only had to experience once before I adopted permanent changes of chewing very well and putting my utensil down in between bites.

I have heard of those further along still having issues with sliming, but I believe there are other issues going on. LipstickLady just made a post saying she has a small stricture, so it does still happen, but only as an exception.

Ok what are you all talking about? Please explain, bc I was just sleeved and slime and foam was not listed as a side effect.

Slime or PR productive burp is this mucus that the esophagus creates to get rid of a piece of food thats stuck whether itd be to throw up or make it slide by but most likely throw up... its horrible !!

I had that a few times in the beginning when I ate something and my sleeve said no or if I ate too much. It hasn't happened since.

I thought I would post an update, I went and got a slight unfill, and no slippage so no surgery for me yet. At some point I will need to have my band removed and I will change to the sleeve but not yet. Hopefully by then I will have insurance that covers it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
