4 months.. How much can you eat?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months post op. I still can't get in over 4 oz of food down per meal. What is everyone else at? Should I be at more?

I'm almost 5 months out and eating just about 4 ounces at a meal. Sounds about right to me but, if you're concerned talk with your nutritionist.

I'm doing high protein/moderate fat/low carb. So really after I eat my Protein there's not room for anything else.

I could probably do 4-6 oz of dense Protein at that time, with a couple of bites of something else. I can definitely do up to 6 oz now, or a small dinner plate's worth of food. A third to a half of a restaurant entree. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. My friend and I who were sleeved by the same doctor have a theory that we don't have quite the restriction that others have. I lose slowly but I lose, so that is good.

I am four months out as well and I always smile in relief when I feel the continued restriction from my 3 ounce meals. I hope it never goes away.

I'm counting on "little sleevie" to keep me in check. Maybe in a couple of years I'll be throughly adapted to the smaller portions, but in the meantime, I'm glad to be on restriction. ;)

Four months out on 4/23/14 I still measure 1/3 cup of Protein and 2 tables of veg/fruit. I drink one shake a day to help me reach 80 grams of Protein. You cannot control that which you cannot measure. It keeps me from falling into bad habits of scarfing down estimated amounts. With drinking 80 ounce of Fluid per day I don't have much tummy space for anything else.

Almost five months out and I can still only eat about 2oz dense Protein at a time. Half a greek yogert. 5-10 nuts. It's really hard to meet protein goals. I still have to do a shake per day at least and occasionally two.

I measure and track online as well (use mynetdiary) and the thing is, it doesn't seem to take very much time at all. I don't know if it's just that it's so habitual at this point?

I use my fitness pal and a food scale to measure. It's soo time consuming!

It'll get faster as the frequent and recent sections fill up and you repeat the foods you eat. If I try to skip using it, it surprises me how fast the totals can get away from you.......

At 4.5 months out I'm only able to consume 3 - 3.5 oz per meal. I'm hoping it stays this way. ...

I'm almost 4 1/2 months out and I don't really weigh or track anything, so here's some examples of what I can eat in a single meal....

1 Natures Valley Protein nut bar

A little less than 1/2 cup chili

1/4 can tuna or crab meat with a little mayo

1/2 beef hotdog (dog only...no bun) and 1 deviled egg...which was probably about 2 small bites too much because I burped hot dog for like 1/2 hour.

1 inch cube of pork loin and 5 green Beans

1 Chobani yogurt with 2 teaspoons oatmeal

I still drink 1-2 Protein shakes/day to meet protein requirements.

I'm over two months out, and I'm learning to visually estimate my meals. I like to go to Golden Corral and get their small take out box, fill it with Protein items and let them weigh it. It has cost me between $1.25 and $2.25 each time. I never seem to be able to finish more than 4 oz. or so at a time, so there is always enough for leftovers. This is a great place for lunch with plenty of good choices. I love the small pieces of steak that they serve on their salad bar.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
