Fill Doctors in Florida?

Recommended Posts

I am in Orlando and know there are two Fill Centers USA locations within a few hours from me (Tampa and St. Pete). I am trying to stay away from the Fill Centers USA locations because I've read too many negative comments about them.

Where is everyone in Florida getting their fills? I would really like to have the first few fills with fluro (figure I've invested way too much $$ into this for a blind fill).

I've called a ton of surgeons in the area and no one is willing to take patients banded in Mexico. What was most surprising to me is that Dr. Lee Grossbard (who was trained in Mexico, is one of the co-founders of Fill Centers USA and was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico) won't take patients banded in Mexico either! *sigh* :cry

I am willing to travel anywhere in the state for a fill doctor that uses fluro and won't bankrupt me in the process. (Heard Dr. Kim in Celebration is great, but $1000 just to be accepted as a patient is a little crazy.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Give the St. Petersburg Fill Centers USA a try. I'm certain you won't be dissapointed.

The NP there does the initial adjustments with fluoro included at no extra charge. She specailizes in interventional radiology.

Call Dr. Wiljon Beltre. He is on Palm Springs in Altamonte Springs. I was Banded in Monterrey, Mexico and he does all of my fills and follow up care.

You may want to check updated pricing, but it was $500.00 initially and $100.00 per fill thereafter.

He is wonderful and it sure beats having to drive 2 hours to Tampa.

I am taking a poll from all the people who live in Florida who are banded and looking for a fill doctor.

I am an RN who does part time work at an imaging center.

I have presented the idea to the group of radiologist there that they should look into becoming certified in fills..with fluro.

The center is in Sarasota. I told them that $300. for a fill was a reasonable rate for fluro..

My question is would people be interested in that??? If I get enough yeses, I will present this to them.

They would not do the fills every day but perhaps have someone there once a week for anyone who wanted to come in that day...

Looking forward to hearing from you all .

Peggy

Banded on 9/28/06 by Dr. Ortiz in TJ< Mexico

have lost 58 lbs since then. Have returned to TJ for 2 fills (my only 2 fills)

1st fill 11/10

2nd fill 2/3

still have great restriction and am losing despite having to stop exercising since late Feb. due to knee trauma...

i think a place in sarasota would be great, i live in Palmetto, fl. and so far have been back to Mexico twice and too tampa once, but would rather go o sarasota, 300.00 for initial visit maybe, but not every fill i hope. the fillcenter is 155.00 plus 75.00 if you want floro, after your first 300.00. anyway i'm sure ther are a lot of us out there that would love to have a provider in Sarasota or Bradenton , thanks for trying to get this ball rolling.

If the price was right and the competence was there, I'd drive down to Sarasota. I live about 3 hours from there but what a great town. I will be looking for someone long term to minitor my port and saline status but plan on sticking with my doc in Denver the first year or so.

I think you cannot go wrong encouraging your employer to go this route. There are centers for surgery popping up and I think the Lap Band will eventually pass the procedure track on bypass.

I would consider it. I was Banded by DR Ortiz last October. Live in Ridge Manor FL. Have been going to fill center in Tampa Nice and Great Dr but she doesn't use the fluro the same way as they did in TJ.

I had my surgery in okeechobee Tuesday May 8th and my surgeon has an office in Port St Lucie, Fl. About 1.5 hours south of Orlando - you could try him. Dr Luis Rosas. Phone number 561-847-6108

:) I have used the fillcenters provider in Tampa and was very pleased. You have to remember that everyone learns on someone. Certainly anyone in the US is not going to be as adept as the guys from MX. They've been doing it much longer and have much more experience. The Tampa provider has her own fluro machine and is very commited to providing a good fill. I've heard of providers that charge the fee, stick a few times, if they are successful great! If not, pay anyway and too bad. Also, she is a NP I think, and nurses tend to have more patience and compassion than docs (in my experience.) Give her a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. And if you are, you can always go somewhere else the next time.

I just had an unfill. The Fill Center sent me to St. Petersburg, I couldn't be more pleased. I honestly felt like I was dealing with someone at the OCC in Tijuana. She has fluoro and knows how to use it!!!!

I know everyone's experiance can be different but she is worth checking out!!

jc i could not agree with you any more, Kathy Gonzales in St. Pete is the best, i have also gone to tampa, and would have gone back but decided to try St. Pete and omg was i glad i did. in my opinion she is the best, every bit as good as the Dr. in mexicali wich are really great, but without all the travel time. luv. luv, her.

Amen to that!!!

Kathy Gonzales is at Millennium Medical in St. Petersburg

Phone: 727-541-2675

I usually shy away from really putting someone over but I was in very bad shape when I showed up at her office, she had never seen me before, got a little information from me and then moved into action.

She really seemed to care really, so this is how I see it:

1. Worst case scenario, if she only seems to care, at least she is good

at making you beleive that she does.

2. Best case scenario, she does care and is also good at making you

beleive that she does.

I am sold on 2, and anyone who has had longstanding relationships with medical proffesionals knows it is rare to find someone with both traits as well as competence!!!

Have been to Fill Center in Tampa...dreadful experience.

Have not been to the one in St. Pete yet.

Am going to another doctor this time for a total unfill. Have already flown to KS to have a fill so would certainly welcome a very good, not very expensive fill center in Sarasota...I'd be coming from the Clearwater area.

My doctor in Bradenton will not touch anyone who was banded in mexico, however I know someone who had the same doctor put the band on but refused to pay the program fee. she goes to the fill center in St. Pete and loves it. Also one of my delivery guys was banded in celebration and goes there for his fills even though he lives in Tampa. Not sure the docs name though.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
