I was sleeved march 24th. I know only 1-2ounces is all I need and that is supposed to make me feel full but I feel as if I can eat 6 ounces before I feel full. I don't know what to do. I went for my 3 week checkup on the 16th and he told me I was doing great. However it's been just eggs and mashed potatoes and soft things like that because at first tuna fish was ok and now it gives me horrible heartburn to the point I feel like I'm going to puke! Am I doing something wrong???

Are you drinking while eating?

I had surgery on the 25th and my feeling of fullness varies from day to day. But I can eat five ounces of Greek yogurt at a time. I think with slider foods we are able to eat more.

It should be that when you go to solid foods you are going to feel fuller a lot faster.

How'd your weight loss going?

No I'm not drinking while eating. I've lost 25lbs and 16 inches in my stomach so far.

Since my surgery date.

I would slow down on the mashed potatoes and start getting in the Protein. Are you following a meal plan from your surgeon? Are you drinking Protein shakes?

Yes I am having protein shakes. Not as much as I should but I do have them. And yes I follow my binder from the hospital and at week 3 it says purée foods and soft things like shaved deli meats, cooked vegetables, tuna fish with fat free mayo etc but I know I'm not eating at the right times Or as much as I'm supposed to because I don't feel hungry. I can never eat at the right times :(

25 pounds is wonderful! Talk to your NUT if you are worried though. I think with soft foods they just empty your stomach faster so you can eat more.

when you are eating super soft pureed type foods, they won't engage your restriction like denser Protein will. Also, as your stomach nerves heal from surgery, your restriction will kick in more and more. Make sure you are eating slowly and very small amounts.

Bufflhead, this is the second time I've read about the stomach nerves. It makes sense. I just hadn't read about it. At what point, do they typically heal?

@@mon_jam74 my surgeon said there is no set time table and people vary dramatically in how quickly their stomachs heal, but around 8-12 weeks is most common.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
