Ok......I'm getting nervous. Starting to have second thoughts! Am reading all the negative stuff....dumping syndrome, vomiting after eating the wrong thing, infections, constrictions...... Oh dear :(

Iv not heard of dumping with the sleeve. That only happens with gastric bypass i believe. So you can cross that off your list if things to worry about... I also never had any vomiting or infections do fingers crossed neither do you!

Your a gem! Thanks for the positive comments. It does make me feel so much better.

It's normal to be nervous. I just want it over and done with!

I'm not on any preop diet at all. Just have to drink liquids only on Monday and that's it! I'm just lucky I guess.

Still switching between nervous and excited, and right now I'm excited. Thinking of having fish and chips for dinner and calling it my last supper!

How are you feeling?

I'm ok. Had the presurgery jitters today. The pre op food regime is driving me nuts mainly because I don't like the taste too much. I made a big pot of miso Soup tonight which was really nice - made me feel as though I was eating normal food. Wednesday can't roll around quick enough for me. How about you?

By Wednesday it will be all over red rover! Well.....the op will be. My op is on Tuesday. Technically, Wednesday will be the first day of the rest of my life :)

I'm not on a pre op diet. Just liquids on the day before I go in to hospital. So I'm pretty lucky really.

I'm off to the shops tomorrow and will be getting enough food....I mean fluids...to last me a week. I hope to keep busy enough so I don't have to think too much about what's ahead.

We got this!

Yup I remember that feeling:) I was almost in a daze, like I was having an out of body experience lol but you will be ok... You will wake up in no time in your room and it will all be over:)

Hi yummy mummy and ozikiwi....

How did you go ozikiwi? I must say, today is the first day that I have felt 'well'!!

I was so sick the first 48 hours, I wondered what the heck I had done to myself. I decided to listen to my body and decided to refuse all the drugs they were pumping in to me, and felt heaps better within 24 hours. I was in hospital for a total of 4 days.

Turns out me and narcotics are not friends.

Any way, home now. 3 kg's lighter and just had my first yogurt. I was starving! Sipping lots, taking pandadol (dissolvable), and enjoying my kids and my partner fussing over me.

It was a bit scarey when I couldn't stop vomiting and shaking, was hot, then cold, was puffed up like a balloon, crying all the time....gahhh. :(

I hope your experience was a bit better ozikiwi!

To think I took my knitting in for when I got bored!

I just commented on another thread that this surgery is not for the faint hearted. I think it's pretty brutal. I have bruises so black I didn't even know they came that dark! Apart from two lots of morphine they gave me in recovery I avoided any narcotics they make me vomit and I already felt more nauseous than I wanted to! I had the shakes and was freezing too. I think it's the bodies reaction to finding out part of it is gone. Only sunk in today - 85% of my stomach has gone! Me and that stomach had some good times lol. I take it you didn't get any knitting done. I feel quite jealous you have lost weight. I don't know if there's Fluid build up with my bruises or what but I am 400gms heavier than when I weighed my self before leaving for the hospital! At least now we are on the path to wellness and recovery!!!!

I read somewhere (I've done a lot of reading!) that the stomach goes from the size of a small football to the size of a banana. Interesting!

So far so good today. Need pandadol to help with the gas pains, but otherwise ok. Feel 'hungry' and eat something, but can't fit more than a couple of teaspoons in, but still have that 'hungry' feeling.....weird

I wish I had thought to refuse the narcotics. I know just codeine taken at home makes me feel sick. Next time I will remember...not that I am planning on going through this again in a hurry.

I hope your recovery continues to go well. The weight will start to come off in time...

My surgeon prescribed Buscopan because he said the stomach muscles spasm. I don't really have pain any more just discomfort. I have not felt physically hungry at all. Neither have I felt full. I am assuming I don't feel full because I am sipping a cup over an hour. You take care and keep up the good work :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
