April 16th role call - who's with me!

Recommended Posts

Also, I had a whole day of NSV's today. It was my son's 3rd birthday party and a lot of my family hasn't seen my since my surgery. So there were a lot of "skinny" comments and shocked faces when they arrived. Also, we had it at one of those jumpy places where they have the inflatable slides and things you can climb through, etc. I was right up there with my three kids. Climbing, sliding, jumping....and it was easy this time! Last year, I could barely climb up the ladder to go down the slide with the kids....and only did it a few times because I was a sweaty, worn out mess. This year, the kids were fighting over who I would jump with next. It was so much fun. I truly feel like a new person. This summer has been the most fun, going to Six Flags or White Water every weekend and the zoo and just really enjoying my kids!!! This was definitely the best decision I've ever made. Oh and I hit 179.6 today, so dipped down into the 170's. Almost 100 down from my non - pregnant highest. My highest was over 300 when I was pregnant with my youngest. This has been incredible and I'm still not done.

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I checked in;

April 9th 251 lbs

April 16th 240 lbs

August 12th 188 lbs

Total lost. 63 lbs!!

Goal weight. 151 ( I would love to say 100 lost)

Struggle: my hair is falling out SO much!! I'm really worried. I haven't had my period since the end of may ( definitely not pregnant). I had a blood test to check my thyroid. Waiting on results. Anyone else experiencing this??

Success: last week over the course if a few days I walked over 15 miles. Doing 3-4 miles at a time. I'm happy with my progress. I haven't been at work since June so I'm excited to show off the new me when I go back at the end of the month. I have been shopping a lot! I have nothing that fits, even shoes! I went from a 18/20 and 2x to a size 12 and large. Even my shoe size changed!

Have a great week everyone!! .

Don't stop checking in everyone!!!! I'm more accountable when I know I have to talk to you all. I missed yesterday, but I was thinking about everyone.

Week 17 check in!!!!

1) Height / weight starting our wls programs: 5' 7" 255

2) Weight day of surgery: 243

3) 17 week post op weight pounds lost/gained: 1.6 lbs lost this week / total since pre-op diet 75.8 lbs / total since I started with a different surgeon back in Oct 94.8 lbs (started classes at 274 lbs and then insurance said they wouldn't cover the surgeon I started with...started over with a new surgeon in Feb.)

4) Goal weight: 150-ish

5) Your biggest success this week: got back to the gym regularly. Increased time on elliptical to 1 hour on level 6. Even went for an hour after work several days after getting up at 4:30 am. I used to used any excuse not to go, but now I'm looking for ways to make sure I can get there!

6) Your biggest struggle this week: still having really horrible heartburn and 2 periods a month but they are getting shorter so maybe my new birth control pill is starting to regulate it and maybe I'll get back to once a month. If not, if I can get to my goal then I can tolerate both.....fair trade for the benefits.

Sorry for the late check-in. I'm knee deep in a big home renovation project. I need the accountability of BP too Sleeveid. I've been participating in the challenges BP has (current one is for Labor Day.) I'll let you know when the next one begins.

Week 17 check in:

1) Height / weight starting our wls programs: 5' 7" , 236

2) Weight day of surgery: 226

3) 17 week post op weight pounds lost/gained: I haven't been weighing myself this week as I was going on week 2 of a stall and it was messing with my head. I weighed myself yesterday and the scale finally moved, but I will report those pounds at the next check-in. :)

4) Goal weight: 160 surgeon goal, 140 stretch goal

5) Your biggest success this week: the scale isn't moving much but my body composition is changing. I went shopping last week and brought a large and extra-large dress into the dressing room. The large had huge gaps under the armpits on me when I tried it on. I had to leave the waiting room to get a MEDIUM to try on. It fit beautifully and I bought it to wear on my vacation at the end of the month.

6) Your biggest struggle this week: hair LOSS!. I thought it was bad before, but now I loose upwards of 80 plus hairs every day in the shower. Good news is I bought Toppik on Amazon and it works awesome! Make sure you get the applicator to pump it as it makes a HUGE difference.

I also have fat brain. I ordered a bunch of clothes for my vacation on-line and when they arrived in the mail I discovered I ordered XL and XXL. I need to reorder everything. Despite being 58 pounds lighter than my heaviest weight of 241, I still don't feel comfortable in my skin. I know how I look and feel at a smaller weight and I can't wait to get there.

I'm glad you mentioned the Hair loss because mine is getting super thin. I meant to ask you what it was when I checked in. Is it the stuff you posted a picture of a while back? I guess I better get some.

I think I posted a pic of the Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner I bought. Don't bother, my hair actually seems to come out more with those products. It leaves your hair super dry. I just ordered Toppik last week on Amazon. I found the small size with the applicator in the same package for around $24. It will last awhile according to the reviews. My hair is dark brown with reddish highlights. I bought the dark brown color and its almost too dark. I'm going to order it in a shade lighter. It covers my white scalp beautifully and seems to thicken up my hair. I pump it into the problem areas and massage it in a bit with my finger tips. Highly recommend!!!!

What are these bp challenges ?

Do a BP search on "labor day challenge" and the current one will come up. They are usually tied into an upcoming holiday. The previous one was for 4th Of July. At the beginning of the challenge you identify a goal you want to reach. You then report your weight once a week. Everyones results are plugged into an excel spread sheet. A link to it is usually found on the first page of the challenge post.

Yep. Hairloss has started here too. I'm afraid to brush it at all. I only wash it every three days to avoid the shower loss which always seems like more.

So......I have been dating like crazy. Three to four a week at times. I FINALLY MET SOMEONE! :) but.....I haven't told them about surgery :/. It's still really premature but I'm afraid to tell this guy who seriously loves to eat all the time that eating is no longer my favorite thing to do. Sigh. This is the first time I have any fear about sharing my transformation story.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
