Sleeved 12-3-13 and I struggle with this all the time. I have found that warm/hot liquids go down better. I cannot do icy cold Water or any extremely cold liquid. I do a lot of Soups and I buy bullion cubes. I luv luv chicken broth as crazy as it sounds. But liquids r liquids and any way u get them down is a good thing. I also do sugar free Hawaiian punch packets. They have tons of flavors to choose from, cheap at Walmart. Also, sugar free hot cocoa is great especially when your cold, Swiss Miss is only 25 cal and very good. I hope some of these suggestions help, good luck !

sugar free ice pops count towards your liquids, Protein drinks count towards your liquids. I couldn't drink plain Water for a couple of months so I diluted apple juice. Although there are carbs and sugar in apple juice I figured it wasn't enough to worry about if it meant I got my liquids in. Try different drinks at different temperatures. My first week or two post op I actually watched the clock on the cable box when I was watching TV and took a sip every 5 minutes, then the next day sipped every 4 minutes, next day every 3 minutes. It's tedious but it works.

It will get much easier in the coming days as internal swelling goes down letting you take slightly larger sips.

It took me a few weeks to hit fluid goals. You're normal. It's very frustrating but very normal.

Hot herbal tea has been my lifesaver! Tazo makes one called vanilla Rooibos Parfait that is apple/cinnamon/vanilla and it is SO good. I put t spoonful of almond milk and a couple drops of stevia. 2-3 cups a day helps with the liquid requirements.

Me too! I drank herbal Decaf tea almost every night the first month. Now I make 20 ounces and pour it over ice. Lifesaver!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
