2 week vacation and I maintained my weight!

Recommended Posts

Well I am 10 months post Sleeve and just came back from a 2 week vacation to see 5 of my grandchildren. I was worried about the 15 hour flight (they live in Korea), eating strange foods and the challenge of bringing Protein to make sure I keep on tract. I knew I wouldn't be able to stay on my weight loss diet (2 shakes, small meal and 1 snack) but I was able to work around the meals the family were eating. I brought individual packets of Protein powder shakes and stuck with a shake for Breakfast each day.

I learned several things on this trip. Rice can get stuck just as easy as bread (every meal in Korea has rice). I cannot let myself get caught up in the moment when eating (I over eat when the food is so good and the company engaging). Walking is the main way to get around and I was able to get in 8-10k steps a day (which is why I believe I kept my weight stable) Now I just have to get in the habit to walk more every day.

Well, now I am home and it is time to get back to loosing the last 30 lbs to hit my goal.

Good for u. Doesn't it feel great that u maintained your weight on a 2 week vacation. As u said, the walking probably helped a lot. Congrats on your vacation victory.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
