2 days post op..i know it gets better but i sure need to hear it

Recommended Posts

I think that having been sleeved so far from home and missing my 7 yr old daughter is the ultimate cause of my blues but man, I'm so regretting this. I know...too late for that. I can't tell if I'm hungry or gassy. Can't tell when I'm full or just grossed out by hospital food. Ugh. Just need to hear that this will pass.

This will indeed pass, I was in MX when I did my surgery and yes everything sounds gross to drink. Only thing I liked was popsicles the first week, then the second week onion Soup minus the onions...I was and still am gassy, so I take Pepcid ac chewable, they help! My Dr said I may have feelings of perhaps regret but that is natural in the first 30 days. It will get better, you will need to take it slow, but today I am 2 weeks post op exactly and back to work and doing well. I am down exactly 18.8 lb total. I cant wait to eat a little bit of " human" food again. Good luck, things get better!

I had my surgery Monday, March 31 and was discharged from the hospital today. I can tell you right now I regret having ever heard of bariatric surgery. I've had a lot of surgeries and this was far and above the worst surgery ever. Everything I drink causes my stomach to spasm. I got home tonight and thought I'd have some Soup. I seriously thought I was going to die. I might try a popsicle in a few hours. There is no fricking way I'm going to be able to drink 64 oz of Fluid, let alone get down my Protein shakes. I was not expecting this to be easy but I did not expect this much nausea and this much pain. My doctor said everyone is different and responds differently. I wish he would have told me worst case scenario before I had this surgery.

I hop you start to feel better soon.

Everyday will get a little better. I went through the, "What the Hell did I do to myself?" phase for about 8 days post-op. By day 9 things were sooooo much better! Hang in there.

I was sleeved on March 31st and went thru the same feelings of regret and pain. I woke up this morning dreading the day and was so happy to discover I felt so much better and was able to get down more of the shakes and Water. Try using the dasani or crystal light to flavor the water. It's easier that way.

In a week you will be fine. Once you get back to your kiddo you will find yourself feeling much better. As for the food, it is normal to lose your appetite for the first few weeks, you will barely get any food down before you realize you are full.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
