No gum & no straws all for the same reason

My Dr. Said I can chew sugar free gum but limit it to 2-3 times a day...No straws for me either. That's a killer. I'm 3 wks postoperative and I find it difficult to get Water in too.. as for staples being removed I had mine removed 48 hrs after surgery. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I was surprised they removed them in 48 hrs. But doc said if not the skin grows over them and that can be uncomfortable. .. good luck everyone!! Everyday gets better...just walk walk walk

6 days out, 13Lbs down, way less pain every day. Slept on my side finally last night, still have this stupid drain. Drain is completely clear now with less volume. Still never needed the nausea meds, pain meds kept comfy.

I feel more alive and energized than ever but I can't wait to work out. Still have the drain so that's a no no. I'm bored at home and ready to return to work already. I can't believe this is me....I've read posts and dreamed over and over that one day it will be me but it still feels like a dream.

I love bariatricpal for all it's been to me, a knowledgeable companion, a teacher, a place to express myself and even vent. Congrats to u all..

I am dreading going back to work. 2 weeks post op still having problems with nausea and getting down food or shakes. Getting a little better then bam back to nothing today! So frustrated. Cant go out of the house for more than 2 hours without feeling horrible. Then taking a 3 hour nap. Couldn't handle work for sure!

I agree. I just keep trying to get h2o in. I'm almost 4 wks out. All of a sudden when I eat and I get full I get horrible gas pains in my shoulder. I'm still getting a bit of pain on left side where they removed stomach. It kind of feels like a burning in my muscle. And I have hit a plate at 34 lbs

How are you all keeping track of your Fluid intake? Paper and pencil? Remember it in your head? Phone app? What?

I have a FIT BIT - it keeps track of my steps & I have the FIT BIT app on my phn. It lets you enter your fluids & Protein, carbs, etc... My Protein Shakes are part of my "fluid goal" my dr just requests a total fluid goal of 40 - 60 oz a day, not 60 + oz of water! Thank God I would never make it.. I'm on to puréed foods now through May 21st... My next Drs apt is May 22nd. I will be 6 weeks post op then. I am a total rule follower with this as it was a self pay of $20k adventure so there is no way I won't succeed. I walk around with the thought of I have $20 k in my tummy, and there is no way will I blow it .. I'm feeling fine - I'm on my way to Hottyville ????... That is my plan! How are you feeling? Did you watch any of the You Tube videos? Take Care.. And keep on keeping on!????????

Yes the YouTube videos were a great comfort to me in the days leading up to surgery, thank you. Jeez. ... YouTube has EVERYTHING. Who knew? Lol

I'm feeling OK, just weak and constantly hungry from the clear liquid diet. Just gotta get through 1 more day of it and I can move to full liquids including applesauce, cream of wheat, etc. Right now ANYTHING sounds good! But I am a rule follower too, and I refuse to allow my intense hunger to screw this up for me. I need to let my new baby stomach heal, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. If I follow all my surgeons' rules, I will be a success!

Have you found any foods your sleeve doesn't like yet?

I am two days post op. Going home tomorrow and looking forward to my new life. Pain management has been good so far. Just feel like I have done a million sit-ups. Fluid intake is slow but I did have a Jello for dinner- it only took me four hours to eat it!

I have had a good experience so far and my doctor and his team is fantastic. I feel like we have new members of our family!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
