I'm in the Irving area!! I think this is a great idea. When I went to the support group my dr recommended it felt more like another nutrition class..but I have surgery next month and I want to talk to people about their experience and what they went through and all that!! I love the idea.

Hi there! I live in Irving too.

So what do we need to do to get this started? I haven't had it done yet, but I'm very interested in either meet ups or something. I'm trying to learn everything I can before my surgery.

I have thought about it, but I just don't think I could fit it into my schedule. I would be happy to co host with someone.

Hi all!

I have volunteered to be a leader of the DFW chapter.

About me:

My name is Kris and I live in Irving with my husband and two sons, ages 10 and almost-5. I work full-time as a pharmacy technician in a call center. I go to school online full-time as well. In my spare time (what spare time?), I write a blog at BariatricCeliac.com. Eventually, I hope that my blog becomes a good resource for both Celiacs and those interested in bariatric surgery alike. I had gastric bypass on May 20, 2014, so I'm still pretty new to all this.

As you can see, I already keep pretty busy. However, I am passionate about being able to have people to lean on during all phases of their bariatric journey. Since our area is so large and since I am newer to the world of bariatrics, I would be thrilled if someone else would be willing to co-lead with me. One thing I love about Irving is that it is so centrally located in the metroplex. Would anyone be opposed to meeting somewhere in Irving?

I would love to hear any and all ideas about our meetings, and I can't wait to meet y'all! :)

I would like to help out/be involved but wondering if it might be better if you have someone like @@music1618 to co-host with you? (I think she said she is 2 years out).

Then again, since you are both Bypass maybe it's not a bad idea to have a different surgery represented. Just thinking out loud. I actually think experience is probably more important than surgery type.

That being said I am happy to get involved if wanted/needed. Or even if a third volunteer was needed. PM me if so :)

Irving is probably not a bad location, I am in the city (Dallas) near White Rock Lake.

Anyone else have thoughts on meeting places?

It would be very beneficial to have a group leader and co-leader!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water. Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
