Is Global Warning A Hoax!

Recommended Posts

Good news, folks....there is no sign of global warming where I live (North Central Texas). It is 45 degrees here, as of this minute! And Sunday night (that's EASTER, you know - springtime, baby chicks, and open-toed shoes, remember?) the weatherman says it will be 38!

I don't think I ever recall an Easter weekend this cold. A couple of days ago it was 80 and we were all wearing shorts and getting a head start on our sun tans. Now we are bundled up in hooded sweatshirts and snuggling under our electric throws.

The Easter Bunny is gonna freeze his cottontail off!!!

You say it's reality and you are entitled to your opinion. There is a lot of evidence to support other views, so I am not convinced that global warming is caused by Co2 emissions and the like. I believe that the global warming that we see happening today is just part of the normal warming and cooling cycles that the earth has experienced since creation, and many scientiests hold that same view. It's not reality to them!

Exactly-What is it about peer-reviewed science people do not understand? It is sad really.

And that is very probably part of the same problem.

Global warming is a cruddy name for what is going on. More accurately, climate change. The (admittedly small) change in temp is altering weather patterns on the large scale.

Our weather here is gorgeous, just like summer. Last week, two zipcodes away, they had snow. Quirky.

We had 80-degree weather on Monday. Tonight, there's snow on the ground.

If you guys ever have the chance, you should take a climatology class. For the most part, boring as hell (at least, the climatology bits I've had in my classes have been), but you can learn the whys and hows of climate change. Global warming doesn't automatically mean that everyone on Earth is suddenly experiencing balmy weather. Like Morsaille said, it changes the weather patterns (and the patterns of systems that affect weather - like ocean currents). Worsening El Nino and La Nina events are just part of the whole impact.

I don't think there is any real debate, even among scientists, that we are in a cycle of global warming. I think the debate is over the cause, with sides being devided over weather is a natural cycle or caused by man- made emmissions. Again, there is a lot of evidence on both sides of the issue. Al Gore is on one side of the issue and is milking it for all the political and financial gain that he can. That's the part that I have a problem with.

So it's his perceived hypocrisy which bothers you....

That is correct! Gore as well as others that embrace that cause, weather the cause is justified or not.

Global warming and the climate changes you just mentioned are documented fact, however, it's implecation is what is in question I think. There are many scientists that point out that the earth has always undergone these warming and cooling cycles with, in many cases, even more dramatic changes that what we see today. The point out that even some positive effects come from global warming cycles, such as an increase of agriculture in areas that cannot sustain agriculture today.

So the real question is, is the global warming we are seeing a real crisis or is it a natural occurance as in the past. Again, many scientists point out that man-made contribution to global warming can not, and does not have a significant enough effect to make the least bit of difference on a global scale.

I don't know who is right or wrong, but I think we need to keep an open mind and not panic. I am all for organic agriculture. I was an organic farmer for 10 years and have gardened organically for over 40 years. I believe in conserving natural resources and reducing polution, but I for one, am not convinced that what we are seeing if the doomsday senerio being preached by some. I think it's conceivable, and perhaps likely that we are in a natural warming cycle, such as has been documented to have occured since creation of this planet.

Having survived "The Coming Ice Age" in the 60s, it is not surprising "they" had it backwards then, in those primitive times....

Now that better science, better data gathering, better direct observation via satellite imaging, etc, actually can SHOW the disappearance of the Arctic ice pack and the melting of the tundra, among other indicators, I agree with the side that states 'CLIMATE change' is occurring....rapidly and in ways never anticipated.

Reading as widely as I can, the disagreement seems to be in what may be causing it, and whether Mankind can control his own influences on the climate.

I choose to live my life AS IF the tiny contributions I make, MIGHT help. That is the best I can do.

The larger and far more fuzzy picture, is whether Mankind can adapt to these changes, regardless of what the cause may be.

With all the other distractions in social, political, economic and religious arenas, the outlook for 'science' saving our collective butts is not a sure thing. Personally, I believe 'science' is the best hope we have to actually develop something workable. And the tools of high tech may help identify, design and develop our options, but I believe recruiting LOW tech answers is our best hope.

Organic farming, low resource consumption, renewable energy, efficient housing is a start. As soon as a profit can be gleaned from that sector I anticipate a great flurry of activity. As soon as larger demographics demonstrate interest, political solutions will evolve.

Good luck to all of us. We'll need it.

If the process of accepting that global warming is happening and it brings around the hybrid/alternative fuel cars, cleaner air/water/whatever...

Is it a bad thing?

Or is it a worse thing to say it is not true and keep letting people pollute on the basis of "its not the people's fault"?

Global warming is one of the biggest hoax's EVER played on society. Not only will Gore not debate scientist who disagree, some scientist have had their life threatened for speaking out against this hoax. Global warming is about POLICTICS and SOCIALISM. If these liberals cannot win at the poles then they come up with BS like this that gives them legislative power IF they can sell it to the politicians and judges. Folks it is just yet another way in which we will be losing more and more of our FREEDOMS!

DO NOT BUY INTO THIS BS. Do not be so arrogant to think that we can actually effect the climate. Can we polute lakes and streams? Of course, but even then, nature has a way of cleaning itself up. Mankind does not have the kind of power global warming says we have. Thanks for listening!

I don't think anyone is saying that conserving fuel and having cleaner air and Water is a bad thing. I think the issue is will it really have an effect on global climate, and weather emmissions could really cause global climate change. Again, it's not clear cut fact as the Liberal politicians would have us think. In my humble opinion, this is a political hot potato that many are using for political and financial gain, which living lifestyles that do not reflect the views they espouse.

When I see the Al Gores, John Trovolta's and the like flying commercial airlines, recycling and eating only organicly raised food, while donating some of their fortunes to the cause, then perhaps I could accept that they really believe their own claims.

I think it's funny to suggest that the Liberals are using Global warming to take away freedom. I can't stop laughing, right wing conservatives complaining about Liberals trying to reduce freedom. Wow, only in America!!!

I don't recall anyone here mentioning Liberals using the issue to take away freedom! Can you explain where you read that?

Ron, I have enlarged the font. I was not responding to a post of yours. But I think these words do suggest a Liberal attempt to take away Freedom.

You and I can both agree that taking away freedom is the job of you folks on the right.

Well Tom, I don't agree with the writer of that post that the global warming thing is an attempt to take away freedom, but I also don't agree that the goal of the Conservative right is to take away freedom either.

Quite the contrary! I think that the "big government" goals of the Liberal left most certainly promote socialism at the expense of individual freedom! But this argument is getting away from the topic on this thread.

I was just kidding Ron, I didn't expect that you agreed with my premise. Just like you probably don't agree with the idea that Liberals naturally have better sense of Humour.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
