April 7 People Check in here!

Recommended Posts

One week to go. Oh heavenly mercy, I am equal parts nervous and excited!! I'm already wondering how I'm going to keep myself busy this week. I am having severe nesting syndrome like before having my babies!!

I thought it would be good for all of us expecting surgery on the same date to have a place to check in this week while we wait to talk about worries, issues, excitement, anything that is on our minds as we prepare for one of the biggest changes of our lives.

I am a Texas girl so I hope to spend a lot of time out in my garden this week enjoying the warmer weather and getting some spring flowers into the ground. My pre-op diet is low carb, high Protein, so nothing too outrageous until the day before surgery.

Chime in and let us know who you are so we can have a lot of support around us this week, and especially next week as we deal with the hospital stay and recovery at home.

Many blessings to all of you!

I'm April 7th as well and super nervous. I am planning to study tomorrow and Thursday for a test on Saturday. Then I am going to try to keep busy with some decluttering as well. I'm so excited infant even stand myself.

I know what you mean. I have kept myself super busy today and now that I have about an hour of down time, I'm not sure what to do with myself!! I bought all of my broths and Soups today so I'll add that to the stockpile of supplies. Stay busy this week! We will be great.

My surgeons office just called, and my surgery got bumped up from 1:30 to 10:30. That is even better, I won't have the first half of the day to stress myself out, and I should get to see DH before he has to go do the kid pick-up.

New to this board. I'm also scheduled for April 7. I was super excited until I started my liquid diet on 3/31. Now the nerves are settling in and I AM SO HUNGRY. I'm not a sweets person, so I struggle to get down the protien shakes. I have been drinking Water and vegetable broth constantly since Monday. I try to keep myself busy, but it's always in the back of my mind. I am also sleeping alot this week. I'm not hungry when I can't sleep!!

Hi! I can't seem to focus on anything else, but you're right, keeping busy does help. I'm on an all liquid diet also, and anytime I slow down all I can think about is how hungry I am. Good luck to everyone Monday!

I've been alternating the sweet Protein shake with chicken broth with a scoop of unflavored Protein added to it. That is helping alot. I've found that if I alternate warm and cold liquids it helps too. I can have Decaf, so in the morning, I have coffee and a shake, then I have a mid morning snack of sugar free Jello. Then protein broth for lunch, and and afternoon coffee. I'll usually have more Jello if I'm still hungry. For diner I am allowed a Greek yogurt, so I have that plus a Protein Shake, and some broth without protein. I've been getting over 70 grams of protein per day this way. The time I struggle with is when I have to fix dinner for the family. tonight was really hard, but I made it through. Monday can't get here fast enough.

kfh20, I'm glad your time got moved up! Not so long to wait that day. Mine is supposed to be the first procedure of the day, but I call Friday just to make sure and get my arrival time. Might be leaving the house at 4:15, but it will be worth it! And good luck on your test, btw!! :)

crystalk1011, are you on a liquid diet for the entire week? I imagine that would be hard to do! Have you tried adding Protein powder to you broths? Maybe that would help you not feel so hungry during the day. My saving grace is definitely Water. I have consumed more Water these last 2 1/2 weeks to float a boat! But I do find that it helps with hunger.

girlofsteel, glad to see you on this board! It is extremely helpful and informative. I'm glad to see us all on this date. We will have support on a daily basis and can compare recovery!

I had my preop at the hospital this morning and it went great, no surprises. I feel like I have done so much research on my own and reading on this board that I knew most of what the nurse had to say.

My body is finally adjusting to the liquid diet. I was STARVING when I got home from my class tonight, but I had my Protein shake and my Greek yogurt, and I felt really full. I am having a cup of chamomile tea before bed to help me sleep and to keep me feeling full until I fall asleep. How is every one else doing on their diet? I've lost about 1 pound a day. Anyone else loosing?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
