I'm having a Morningstar veggie patty and I love onion. Am I allowed onion at 4 weeks out?

Everyone's doctor's recommendation are so different! I could only eat purees at four weeks per my plan, but I believe that if you are eating the proper small quantity nd chewing very well, you are probably going to do beautifully.

I am four weeks out too and I love the Morningstar patty, or sausage link for Breakfast. I have wanted to add onion or pickle to my chicken salad, but I am refraining because my nutritionist said only soft foods I can cut easily with a fork. I figure I only have a few more weeks till I can try it without worrying. Good luck.

At 4 weeks, I was allowed full foods, but Frankensleeve didn't like full foods yet - especially anything fibrous like onions. If you haven't tried onions yet, be sure an eat only about 1/2 teaspoon of them to test how your new stomach will tolerate them. 1/2 tsp was enough to cause stomach distress if my sleeve didn't like a food. My sleeve always felt like a garbage disposal grinding rocks when I first started eating vegetables again.

Mine was the 25th. Just transitioned to food today but my tummy didn't like the raw onion. Maybe grilled next time

LOL! My sleeve did that with cottage cheese of all things.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
