Question on Loose Skin

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am considering having the lap band procedure done but I have one important question. Will you have loose skin even if you exercise. If you could please respond and give me insight on your personal experience it would be greatly appreciated.

I have exercised a lot, and still have loose skin.

At the end of the day, loose skin depends on a few different things; duration of obesity, age & genetics.

Hopefully it will. My skin is not as bad as I thought it would be. Going from 297lbs to 118 is going to be rough on anyone's skin... I count myself as one of the lucky.

I feel my age (26) played a huge part in my skin snapping back as well as it has. I must say, I would never in a million years trade this loose skin for being overweight again. Because, really once a person has been overweight, the only way to prevent loose, or sagging skin 100%, is to not lose weight.

Good luck!

I've been unenthusiastically exercising for about 2 months, all cardiovascular. Now, after 60 lbs, I'm noticing enough loose skin to concern me--especially my abdomen and underarms.

Last night I did a trial of Curves to tone up. I'm sure it will help but at 50 years old, no matter how much exercise I do I may still have to resort to plastic surgery at goal to "clean things up."

Paying for the sins of my past,

MC

I have 18 years old and have some loose skin mainly in my arms, i'll return to an exercise rutine in 1~2 weeks (i haven't been able to go to the gym since december because of a leg injury), i hope it'll get better but i'm not sure because of the "estrias" in my skin (i really don't know how to spell "estrias" in english, they are lines that form in your sking when it stretches too much).

Good Luck, saludos! :clap2:

At first I thought I would have a big fold of skin, but, so far, it seems to be tightening up nicely.

Here's to the winners!

Every body is different. I thought I would have much more skin left than I do. Please don't be mistaken, I have now had some skkin removed from my belly and breasts but it could have been worse. Exercise does make a difference. I will still need to have some skin removed from my arms and thighs but I keep working out to make it less.

I have been overweight for over 20 years and my skin was so streched out I knew plastic surgery was in my future. My goal is to make things as easy as possible for me. I have tightened up quite a bit but i would never have been able to tighten the 7 pound peice of skin on my belly. That sucker had to be cut off and I could not be happier about it.

I exercised and yes i have LOTS of loose skin. I guess its just the way the fat was on my body (belly) and back and inner thighs and arms.

There is only so much you can do... if you, Like I, have been fat most of your life and you have stretch marks in places like, your thighs and under your arms - then you, Like I, will need PS to get "tight" skin.

I am saving up for that, now. I think it will take me about 2-3 more yrs to get to goal - so I ought to have enough, by then.

:]

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
