Rome/Cupcake......I am with you both! I am on day 13 of my liquid diet and I'm not hungry but I really miss chewing! My surgery is on Friday. I'm just ready to do it! Good luck to you all on your surgeries!!!

I haven't been hungry but all of a sudden my stomach is growling. Popsicles and Water is not helping the hunger pains. Ughhh

Lol. I gave up on Popsicles on day one. They did absolutely nothing for me! My stomach isn't growling but it sure is having a burning sensation right now. Just ready for my surgery!!!!

Ok so I got to come home from the hospital last night. The surgery went well. The first night was really rough. I had an NG tube down my nose, oxygen on, a catheter, and a jp wound drain in 1 of my six incisions. I was using the morphine pump they gave me, but I need a lot of help to reposition myself in bed. The nurse brought me an abdominal binder and it helped me a lot. The pain was really bad and can still be bad, but I am moving around a whole lot better now. I had a wonderful experience at the hospital. My husband has been very attentive and is taking great care of me. I wanted to thank you all the support and encouragement I get here. Now the journey to the new me starts!

Cupcake/MommaD - I'm with you! Ready to get this show on the road! Keeping busy so that I don't chew my arm off during this liquid diet phase :-) Today was cleaning out all the cupboards and fridge and organizing the containers I will use, putting Protein Shakes, poweders, Soups, gatorade away etc. Next Tuesday can't get here quick enough! My nerves are starting to kick in like yours MommaD about drinking and eating after this. Will I go too fast? Will I not chew it thoroughly enough? All of the unknowns that we will learn by trial and error I guess. I just don't want my trial and error to include vomiting lol! Keep in touch all!

I so know what you mean. I saw the other comments about dumping and feeling almost like a low/high blood sugar attack. Those scare me. My husband had an RNY in 2001 and he become hypoglycemic after his surgery. Anything like sugar, orange juice, Syrup, honey, etc makes his blood sugar drop. Weird huh? First time he had an attack I rushed him to the ER. All the hospital did is made him eat a cheeseburger and fries. I told him he better love that $1000.00 lunch plate. I know it was serious but would have made sense to tell me to him something to eat since I called them first.

I am having gastric sleeve May 29th, I start my two week partial liquid diet in two days. I am really starting to get nervous and feel so ill prepared. I have no idea what I should take with me for after surgery, and what kind of food I should have at home for afterwards. I need a surgery buddy any takers :)

Nicolej, did they not send you to a nutrition class or prep class? I have found great resources on then internet about examples of diets for each phase or other methods of food prep others have tried.

Hi Girls, First Thank you Jolene, Rome, Nicholej, Taking a leap, I'm jealous Jolene I just can't seem to get all my fluids with the little smooth food I take in along with all our Vitamins, meds (must never forget my prilosec and gas X first thing)etc. I'm constantly bloated. I try to walk it off so I can sip more but go back to being bloated and full. Nicholej I will be your buddy if you need one still. Love you all for your Kindness Kelly

I'm not there yet but all i've heard is the first process is slow. Take as much as safely possible but if it hurts stop and wait another time. Eventually everything doesn't last forever and reaching those goals will come in time. Don't get discouraged. Who knows I'll provably need this sane pick me up when ?I have my surgery. ????

Ok so I'm not completely without problems with my pre-surgery diet. I can have partial food, but these lean cuisines and smart one meals suck! Pardon my saying so. I don't think I cook bad just the amount of what I eat. Might have to lean on my doctors to see what other options are.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
