Good morning.

My port is on right side...and I only know that because of the xray...I can't feel it and had no idea. I think they can put them anywhere.

Sorry..I'm not much help..

How are things going otherwise.

Good luck

Kim

my port is on my left side I cannot feel it.. sharp pains are not normal. I had some soreness around my incisions but nothing major. if the pain continues, you need to call your Dr.

My port is on my left side pretty near my ribs on the left side I have had pain in the port area since day one five months ago and continue to do so it is moderate pain and I have discussed it with my doctor - he has shrugged it off and said that it is common but he didn't know why it keeps continuing now I have a pulled muscle in that same area so my side is sore.

my port is in my left chest area and I am 8 weeks out and still feel discomfort at times...especially if I sleep on my left side it starts to hurt more...but I can feel it sometimes and sometimes I can't-just plain weird for sure.

Nat, call your doctor for sharp pain. Mine is on the left and sore and a lump. If I bend at the waist it still hurts. But I'm still healing, and have my post-op appointment Monday, so I'll know more then.

My port is on my left side about 3 inches from my belly button. I'm 8 days out and still feel pain and can't sleep on my left side, though it does seem to be getting a little better every day.

I am over 2 weeks out and mine is in my left side. I can feel the port and when I bend sometimes there is a slight pain but nothing that sounds like yours. I would call your doctor, it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

My port is under the large central incision. However I always thought it was to the left as I can feel something like a marble under the skin. My surgeon says this is the tubing and that it's uncommon to be able to feel it as I do. I had mild discomfort for the first week and can only now 5 weeks post op sleep on my tummy or side now. No discomfort anymore

My port is on my left side as well. After surgery I basically lived with an ice pack on my left side / belly. It'll get better. My surgeon just said since they stitched the port to the muscle wall that's why it'll hurt for a little while. I think it took about 3ish weeks for the pain to subside.

Its pretty normal to have sharp pain after surgery! But, as others have advised you, if you think it is not normal, call your surgeon's office. Best wishes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
