June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! My surgery is scheduled for June 4th. I'm equally excited and scared. I'm really looking forward to my new journey, but am a little concerned about some of the potential side effects, such as vomiting and Hair loss. I'm ready to change my eating habits and lifestyle, but it makes me sad to think that I may never be able to eat certain foods again. Hopefully that concern will go away after my surgery. I would really miss eating steak though.

Hi Everyone. Surgery date is June 5th. Been on the pre-op diet for two weeks now and have less than two to go. I am reading everything I can so I can try and get everything I need for the first two weeks in the house before I have the surgery. I am very nervous and very excited.

I am struggling with this preop diet. I am starving. 5 shakes a day plus broth and sugar free Jello. I have lost 7 Pds wk 1 and have one wk left. Any advice? Oh ... Congrats to u????

What about Popsicles? They give you the crunch. Hope it helps. I start my one week preop on June 6th.

I just started my 2 week pre op diet for sleeve surgery on June 11 (my birthday!) in Puerto Vallarta. I'm both excited and scared. Trying not to overthink it and just get it done and move forward with life. Wish me luck, I'll keep y'all posted; by the way I'm from BC Canada in case there are any Canucks out there getting sleeved.

Hi Everyone,

My surgery date is June 11th, any other June dates out there?

June 11 for me, too. I haven't "joined" any groups...been out here on my own...but I am feeling a great need for group support and also to be supportive.

Hello! Another June sleever here! :)

I've been lurking for weeks and finally figured out how to reply to threads. Lol

I'm on day 7 of the pre op diet (5lbs down woo-hoo!) surgery date is June 5th in Tijuana with dr. Corvala.

In exactly one week I will be packing up and getting our kiddos settled with my parents. Anyone else with small children having major anxiety about having surgery? This will be my first flight (I have a big fear of flying) and first time with general anesthesia so I've been getting pretty emotional about something going wrong.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
