I'm happy for you Lindsay... Keep up the good work.

I just started soft foods and I'm so happy. I was full with 2oz of Salmon but it was delicious!!

I bought everything on the list because I go back to work tomorrow and need to be prepared.

So far so good and not hungry or in pain. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks for me.

Hey guys so im like almost 3 months out. Theres not much that i cant eat its a matter of what nourishes me. Greasy foods and carbs make me lethargic. Im going for my 3 month appointment with dr abkin in 2 weeks. Hes a great doctor.

Hey Lindsay. How are you adjusting 3 mos out? Is it what you expected/ prepared for? How much lost so far? With the sleeve were you in and out same day in the surgical center or were you in hospital overnight ?

JustJaime5 I'm doing ok thanks! The first couple of days were rough with the gas pain but today marks 5 days out and I feel pretty good. I'm so over the clear liquid diet! I go back to my surgeon tomorrow and hope to move to the next phase. I'm not really hungry except some head hunger and according to my scale I'm down11.8lbs since last Wednesday! Still having a tough time getting all the Water & Protein in but I'm trying!

No buyers remorse here, but I miss chewing!! Lol

Baby steps, I know!

Im very adjusted. I spend an extra 15 mins every morning setting up Protein Shakes, cheeses, nuts, and other Protein rich Snacks for the day. I can eat almost anything, but some things are still uncomfortable. Such as red meat and most carbs. They are a little tougher going down amd i immediately get lethargic. Sometimes its worth it, most times its not. I eat a lot of poultry and fish. Ive become a better cook since i Meal prep each weekend. I have lost 66 pounds!! If you guys have ANY questions feel free to message me :)

Hi all. It's been a while since I've been on and I wanted to check to see how everyone is doing? I'm still on the road to surgery. It's scheduled for Dec so I am just finishing the required appointments. Psych eval is done. Nut counseling next month and then the endoscopy then I should be all set.

One question for you all. Did you have the procedure at the florham park office or out of morristown memorial Hosp? How long was your stay?

Hope you all are doing well!

My surgery is scheduled for September 8th in the FP surgical center, it's being done as an outpatient procedure (so long as everything goes well) and from what I understand all of Dr.Abkins patients are outpatient, at least that's what they led me to believe in the pre-op class last week..

Are you so excited?! I am and my sx is months away. I'm a little nervous. The first visit I had lost 5 lbs but between visits. Then I went on vaca and gained a few pounds then I gained like 7 lbs since last month. I sprained my ankle and have not worked out and have been eating so badly. I'm afraid when I go tues for the weight loss class I'm going to be in trouble. Did you gain any weight during your wait time? They haven't told me I "can't". I'm so afraid the insurance will see that and either push sx back or deny. After jumping through these hoops I'm so concerned.

@@JustJaime5

Excited and nervous.

My first and only appointment was in May since then I gained 4lbs, I wasn't required by my insurance to lose any weight before surgery. When I went in for the pre-op class they weighed me and didn't say anything about my weight.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
