I have pretzels for a snack. If you chew, chew, chew they are like nothing going down. I wouldn't try it so early in the journey, but a few months out now and then should be OK. You won't want very many.

With anything like that I find that they're easy to eat becuae they're easy to chew to mush. But the problem is I tend to shovel them in, lol. Who eats pretzels or chips slowly? I just grab handfuls and THAT does cause me problems.

So I have to really stop and remind myself to SLOW DOWN.

I had my first pretzels today,,and I eat them veryyyyyyyyyy carefully. I'm beginning to think somethingis wrong with me,,as NO foods have caused me any prolbems(so far). I'm 2 months post op. My next visit it April 12th and i KNOW it's time for my first fill. And yes,,I too have a problem with grabbing a handful of anything "snacky" so I have to be really conscience about just how many I am supposed to eat. I bought a small bag and divied them up into small portions and out them into snack sized zip-lock bags. If I eat any carbs that day,,I skip the pretzels. I havnet weighed in a week and dont plan on weighing until I go back on teh 12th. I was getting kinda obsessive-compulsive about weighing and that's NOT good for me!

I go for my post-op followup on Thursday and my god I hope he puts me on soft foods. I have had the most peculiar cravings these past couple weeks. hotdogs, bologna, pickles, and green olives...LOL

At this point it would be nice to chew ANYTHING...;)

I like the occasional snack-pack of small pretzels - satisfies my crunch and salt cravings. I used to love bread - but it gums up and I PB (or really want to!), unless I soak it in in Soup. Dry foods go down so much easier for me than moist ones. 8

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
