Started eating more! Why

Recommended Posts

I started this journey last Nov and noticed I have been eating more ever since. Just got my approval for May 5th. Worried about being able to sustain the weight loss...

Hi. I was going to start a post about this same thing. I recognize I am way closer than I was at the beginning of this process and yet I feel so far away. I am having the same issue with eating. It does not feel as if I'm mourning or having a last go around, it just feels like hunger.!!!!!!! I Have even thought of this as my way of sabotaging the whole.damn thing. Either way I don't know what to do....

I think everybody did this before surgery. I don't know why but it's almost like you lose control and have no will power. Fight it as much as you can. That pre diet is so important. It teaches you how to eat and helps with weight loss.

Did your doctor ever say or expect anything from you before the preoperative diet? I can appreciate the significance of the preoperative diet but I feel like anything before that is impossible. I am concerned about upsetting my doc or seeming incapable of getting it together.

I only got a chance to do a one week pre-op, only lost 5 pounds; I'm 12 days post-op and feel great; good luck and reach for the stars

I only met w my doctor once for a consultation and haven't met with him since then. I don't know who to ask about this... The nutritionist I saw looked like she weighed 90 PDs so can't ask her...

Lol I also felt like I couldn't ask my nutritionist because she is sooooooo very small but also because I was afraid My telling her that I feel like eating everything would have a negative effect or slow the process. I was officially cleared by the nutrition, dietician and psyc last week (PRAISE GOD) and I have a second consult to confirm I want the sleeve and not the bypass (a decision made out of haste). I wish I could say I could have the surgery right after that meeting but because I smoked my doc wants me nicotine free for 3months...wtf....anyway I won't be eligible until May 3rd

Does your doc know you smoke? I am 40days nicotine free but I will not take all the credit. My primary doc prescribed WellButrin for mild depression and smoking cessation. But I will definitely cheer you on. I'll make sure to message you on 3/21

I was really honest with my Doctor and nutritionist and they seemed to have no issue with it but said I need to quit. I want to be nicotine free at least a month before. Omg no smokes, cocktails, or food what's left?;)

That is definitely the truth, what else is left to indulge in? Lol I kind of wish my surgeon was like that. He basically told I was going to die after surgery if I smoked...OMG...THAT scared the Hell out of me. Are you interested in taking medication to stop?

more than likely if your not losing weight and you are smoking they wont do the surgery.. If they do they are risking your health.. You need to shrink your liver by losing weight before surgery and the smoking before surgery is a huge no no.

I think what you are feeling we have all felt that way and is commonly referred to as a food funeral , began using this time to not binge eat because of fear of the unknown and stress but take one day at a time and began eating correctly and began making life long changed this will help prepare you for after surgery . Good luck .

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
