3days post op pain

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I had sleeve surgery on Monday morning. All my incisions are upper abdomen and I have a drainage tube. I am doing great pain wise with the exception of a major pain in my lower right abdomen and it has me really scared. I am hoping it will go away when tube is taken out but starting to get worried. Has anyone had this problem?

I had drainage pain too. Once the tube was removed I took a day or two for the pain to lessen. It turned out that I had heaps of tube in me, and it was touching a nerve.

I am so glad they took that f*ing tube out before I went home - OMG - it skeeved me out so bad and I hated it! The stupid bulb was always falling off my lap and yanking the stitch, oh I hated that damn thing. I was petrified my daughter (15 mo) would grab it and yank it or something!! Ugh I hurt for you that you still have it in. :( Call your doc about the pain and remember it'll be out soon!!

Hi everyone! So the pain was from the tube. Once they took it out it went away! Thank heaven! In my mind I thought it was my appendix!!

I am getting a drain, I'm afraid of the pain when they take it out. Is that super painful?

I did! I had a drain for a week after surgery, and it was the cause of most of my pain. Once the drain came out so did 90% of the pain. I was living on percocet with that darn drain in! Hopefully you feel better soon!

Some will say when they had it removed it didn't hurt. Mine sure the heck did. It only hurt for a second when he yanked it out. If the doctor was any closer he would have caught my foot for sure! The pain was really quick, but I think it HURT so much for me because having the stupid thing in was painful anyway.

My surgeon takes the drain out right b4 I go home, I'm guessing that's a good thing.

Don't be afraid! I was and it took one sec and I was still thinking they were done and the nurse holding my hand was like you can breathe. It wasn't bad at all. ;)

It was awfully uncomfortable but I sure didn't want it to stay in. You'll be drugged well, too. Breathe in, count to three, breathe out and it's over. The anticipation and then the memory is worse than the actual discomfort.... But yes, there is discomfort.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
