Hi Justin, I've been banded 10 months and I'm down around 50 lbs. I love being banded. It is great to feel restriction and not overeat anymore.

Hi all,

this is my first post as I am new here. I was banded last Friday and I am so excited. My surgery was done by Dr. Spivak and I couldn't be more pleased. The reasons for my decision to have the surgery are that first my wieght has "yoyo'ed" for years, and this past year have had some health issues. I thought possibly (due to smoking) I might have some serious problems causing shortness or breath and severe lower back pain. Well, we eliminated cancer and I spent $3500 with a cardiologist to find out there is noting wrong with my heart. Hummmm. So that meant I wasn't dying, and I didn't like the quality of my current condition, so I quit smoking (2 months ago) and opted to have this surgery so that I can improve my health. I know shedding some of the extra weight will relieve some or possible all of my back pain which has recently become almost incapacitating. This is my year to get in the best health possible.

Hi I was banded on the 28th of March, 5 days ago. Everything is going great. My doctor says you loose the most weight in the first 3 weeks and then it tapers off to 1 or 2 pounds a week. Have you found this to be true? I have 70 pounds to loose.

:help: Hello,

My name is Teri. I am wanting to have the Lapband done, I live in Lawrenceville, GA, anyone live near me? I am insured under my husbands BCBS of FL. I have not had any luck as to being able to get this covered under his policy, any suggestions? If I have to pay for this out of my pocket I have been told it could cost up to 20K, I don't have this kind of change hanging around. I was told that Capital 1 would finance this so I called them, it would cost about 455 to 755 a month depending on credit once again I can't afford this, anyone have any other suggestions?

The Dr. is S. Steinberg anyone heard anything about him?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
