I had a gastric bypass in 2007. I had a revision 9 days ago. I was supposed to start regular liquids 2 days ago for the next week then advance to softs for 4 weeks.

Tonight I had to attend a memorial service for a friend and out of depression/bad habits I ate some chips and salsa and a bite of a quesadilla at dinner when everyone gathered. I threw up twice before leaving the restaurant, once on the way home, and twice when I got here. I know the seriousness of what I've done, but at the time I really wasn't thinking. I have no doubt that everything I ate has come up by now but my stomach is still severely hurting...like a cramping in the bowel area. It almost feels like needing to poop and you're trying to hold it in. I have eliminated that as a cause of the pain already. I'm thinking I might have seriously hurt something. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Should I be concerned enough to contact the doctor? I just want the hurting to stop.

Always call your doctor. It's what they're there for. As far as eating those foods way too early, you know it was wrong. And you know why. I hope everything is okay.

Please call your doctor. It is better to be safe and contact them for nothing, then it be something bad and you never call. Your health is important. Call.

You had your first experience that you can identify as eating for the wrong reasons. the reason you have had this surgery in the first place. you identified it and that is a tremendous growth on your part. Fixing your thinking will help fix your body...Knowing what triggers us to do things we know we shouldn't and being able to stop it before we indulge is a huge step forward in this journey. :)

It would be wise to talk to your doctor just to make sure all is okay......

It's all a learning process and one that will take a long time to finally figure out.....You did good girl figuring it out!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
