Like I saw someone post on here ( it cracked me up!). "The lap band is not going to jump out of your body and SLAP that piece of fried chicken out of your hand!" Lol. We have to make good choices. But we also need to be able to "live" with our choices. I can't "live" with Pre packaged processed diet foods! I spent 2 years in culinary school. I, personally, believe in REAL food. It may have real butter in it and not margarine. It may have organic coconut oil instead of processed vegetable oil. I tend to count chemicals before I count calories. But that is just me.

I have told myself I am going to weigh myself only once a week, and that day will be on Thursday, the same as the day I had surgery. We'll as everyone knows this is Thursday and I weighed myself. I just can't believe it I only lost 1 lb and 4 ozs. I hardly eat anything at all and I can really tell that I am losing. Could it be that my stomach is still swollen and I am just now starting to (Pardon Me) but pass gas. My husband guessed I had lost 10 lbs and my sister guessed 19 lbs but no way.

Now I have a. Stupid cough and took some cough Syrup this morning and was so so sick to my stomach, didn't throw up but thought I would, just can't eat anything so far, doing good to keep Water in me right now.

So has anyone else been like this?

Sorry to be so yucky with my message! Oh I am only a week post-Op.

i loose in big chunks, so i stay the same or little lost for 2 to 4 Weeks, then in just days i can drop several pounds....bodies are weird, just still to it and it will show soon. probably all the fluids still. also are any of you fluids sodium? like broth, maybe even extra Fluid retention.....not to be weird but are you constipated? that can account for a little bit too.

After surgery I didn't have a bowel movement for 7 days due to the pain meds. Constipation is a big side effect.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
