December Bandsters in april

Recommended Posts

I've been reading and rereading this thread to see if others have similar "issues" to my own. My brain is soooo confused right now.

On an intellectual level I know I am losing weight and I am happy with the results thus far. My fat bubble butt fits in places it didn't used to fit. My clothes .... oh, my clothes. My friends tell me to quit wearing baggy clothes. Well, whatever I am wearing wasn't baggy three weeks ago. I was looking at my ticker today and for the first time this is all totally something I can manage. Reaching the half way point was not good, it didn't feel like I had done anything. Being in onederland...blahhh. Being 189... (sigh). But suddenly 187 ... that number looks different to me. Suddenly I feel there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.

While the numbers look good, I look at my body and no matter how much weight I lose I look and I can find at least another 100lbs to lose. I know that isn't realistic, I get that. But it is still what I see.

My BMI is 31.2. I should be happy, it used to be 41. But I'm not happy, not at all.

My doc told me that when considering a goal weight to keep in mind that some fat will likely be removed during a Tummy Tuck. Okay, with Lipo and flab removal, let's say 10lbs. My goal is 150, remove 10lbs w/surgery for 140, and I still think I'm going to be fat at 5' 5". I really do. I can't honestly wrap my brain around the scenario of ever being normal sized. My sis and I are about the same height and bone structure. She said she weighs 140. Okay, so that *really* means she weighs 145. I can see where she could lose 5lbs or so. I compare myself to her, I should look similar. But I won't. I have wayyyyyy too much fat.

Would you guys do me a favor? Would a couple of you try something and see if you have the same weight loss weird stuff I do?

Sit on the edge of a chair. Sit so that the fat on your thighs hangs freely. ;)

Do you have dents where fat used to be? I'm talking BIG dents. I have one huge dent on the inside of each thigh closer to my knees. I could almost put my fist in there. Gahhh Does anyone else? Did anyone else and it all evened out one day?

HI Bubble,

Nice to see you again. I keep wondering how you are doing. You were having so many problems with your band.

I do a lot of weight training on my legs. My legs are all muscle. My thighs are rock hard. I started doing this way before I ever got the band in an attempt to lose weight. I didn't lose weight then, either. My belly is another story. It's flabby and hangs down and I hate it too. I do stomach crunches and leg lifts. The trainer says there is muscle under the flab.

Are you eating now, and not having to stay on liquids? I want to lose weight so badly, but my scale never budges. I am stuck at 184 and have been ever since my last fill on 4-9. I have only lost 24 lbs since 12-29 and I am disgusted. I do everything I am told and the scale never moves.

I am going to get another fill. It's the only thing I can think of to do.

I was wondering where all the Dec. bansters went to. I have been looking for this thread!

Oh, I forgot to ask you....... How did you break your plateau?

I'm finding new foods to eat. Veggie crackers, parmesan crackers, fruit shakes, fruit smoothies, etc. With the meds I'm on now for stomach spasms things are slowly changing.

I broke the plateau with an extra mile of running daily. I'm still waiting for that euphoric high some get when running or working out really hard. All I do is sweat and watch the treadmill numbers go by. ;)

Are all of you getting enough Fiber? I know when my scale doesn't move I take a scoop of ground flaxseed and ground psylum husks and mix it with o.j. and the scale will start to move - usally do it 2 to 3 times a week.... I think skinny people poop a lot. Just a thought....

Is anyone going to make a thread for us December bansters for May?

Maybe we should just revive the general December bandsters thread? These monthly threads aren't generating much traffic and I think we're losing people as each new thread is posted.

Just my opinion. I'll follow wherever we are. :)

I'm posting this on all the December threads to try to reach everyone.

I think those of us still posting have decided it's easier to just stick with the original December bandsters thread:

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=25506

There doesn't seem to be much traffic on the monthly threads and we may be losing people with each new thread.

However, like I said before, if others want to keep the monthly threads going, I'll follow wherever you go. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
