Tdap vaccine and stuck!

Recommended Posts

Help! I'm a nurse and I am starting a new job and had to get a tdap vaccine yesterday afternoon. Starting this morning everything I eat gets stuck! I've had my band three months and have never been stuck until today. Anybody ever hear of a relationship between vaccines and swelling causing this? If it keeps happening I'm calling my doc!

Could be an immediate allergic reaction to the vaccine? Doesn't take much inflammation to cause your stoma to constrict and if you're not ready for it(not chewing enough yet) stuck is the obvious response.

But, calling the doc is always a good idea!

Agree with 2muchfun....call your doctor so you can get a piece of mind. I was banded on 11/21/2013 with Dr. Benavides and have lost a total of 35lbs to date. I read your posts and realized you had surgery at true results richardson, how much have you lost and how many cc's do you have in your band?

All is well with the band. Swelling went down by day 2 after the vaccine. I did have my surgery with True Results and Dr. Benavides on 12/26. I'm down 38 lbs. yay!

Dr. Benavides was my surgeon also, I was banded on 11/21/13 and have lost a total of 35lbs!!! I'm losing a little slow but I'm ok with it. Was your band primed at time of surgery?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
