Hi everyone, can anyone share their experience for psych eval. I'm scheduled to do mines on Wednesday. Everything is done, this is the last item to be completed for insurance approval. I'm nervous and anxious. Is this normal, what to expect or anything I can do. Also how long is the eval and how long before you get your results. What's the process. Any advice will help. Wish me luck.

Basically, what your psych is looking for is that you will be able to mentally handle the physical changes which are about to happen to you. They will ask if you are ready for the changes ahead, if you're doing the WLS for the right reasons and you're not being coerced to do it or not, and they will want to know if you have any type of support system with friends and/or family. The Q&A process is generally pretty harmless...nothing to really worry about. Some are different than others, but the only thing I personally had to talk to the most about was why my other weight loss methods didn't work for me.

As far as how long it takes, they say you need 2 sessions. I ended up having one 'double session', and the results were sent to my surgeon within 2 days.

I wish you the very best...I'm sure you'll do great!!!

My psych evaluation was an interview that lasted about a half hour, addressing the issues presented by BryBro 63. My psychologist was sweet and non-judgmental and made the process painless. I wish you good luck and good health.

I had to take a really long test of true or false question. Some were so stupid I actually snapped a pic of the page to show my hubby when I got home. Afterwards, I talked to the psychologist for maybe 15 min. It was just like chatting with a friend. That was it, no big deal at all.

My appointment consisted of questions by the psych as well as true and false questions they are looking to see if you can handle the surgery , the changes that may come with the surgery as well as your support system and how you would handle everyday life. Just be honest and be yourself.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! This has helped me ease my nerves. This whole process has me on pins and needles. I know I'm close to the finish line and getting geared up for the real thing. I want everything to go without a hitch. Thank you all so much for your support. I love this app and the people in it. This has such a great thing to know and feel the love and support from everyone that is in the same boat or the advice from those that have gone though it. Thank you once again. I'm all done with my pre op and even have the pre op class scheduled all that is pending is the eval and approval. Much love to all

I'm thinking of meeting with a therapist throughout the process (this is in addition to my psych eval). Since it is the biggest life change in my life, I think it would be good to work through my relationship with food with a professional so that not only my body changes but also my mentality.

Has anyone else done this as well?

I had an eating disorder as a teen so I was a little freaked out going into. But it was no big deal, they gave me three test and we talked a little. Good luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
