I am just about 1 month away from my surgery and sometimes I think I am out of my mind for doing this! I am anxious about so many things not the least of which is failure.

Did any of you have these second thoughts and doubts?

Susan:omg:

Hi Susan, I am 5 weeks pre-op and I have many, many second thoughts everyday - several times a day. I think it's just nerves which is perfectly normal. I have had many conversations with myself about this and I tell myself:

1) You have reseacrhed this extensively and know it is the right thing to do for yourself

2) You have read many posts about others who have second thoughts before surgery and it is perfectly normal to be scared and questioning if I am doing the right thing

3) Do you want your life back and do you want to be healthy - heck yes!

4) You have read about the good and the bad regarding the lapband, weighed the options (no pun intended) and know it is the tool you need

5) You know you are probably going to have many second and third thoughts post-op as well - so be prepared

6) Remember... go back to the forum and read, read, read because there are many people out there who feel the same things I feel and have had the lapband working for them postively in their lives - gain strength from them

7) Be thankful that I have this option to help me regain my health

:):P  :cry :tired :guess :biggrin1:

Yes......went to the telephone numerous times to cancel but glad I didn't. The band is the conscience that I need. I still have head hunger, I still graze, but do not consume as much. Before I took Zenical to keep me from over eating, but the medication was $100/month and I had to stop. I traded diarrehea for stomach pain when I over eat, and I c an't get a fill easily where I live but again I would have the band in a moment. Good luck on your decision. Doddie

You'll go through lots of different emotions between now and then, you wouldn't be normal if you didn't. Try to keep busy and the time will go by much faster! Good Luck!

Thank you all. I am still nervous but you have all reinforced that I am doing the right thing. I do want my health back and I will succeed.

Thank you!

Susan

I was great with the decision right up until I was walking into the operating room and thought I had lost my mind, but I kept walking and I have never regreted it and would do it all over again.

I agree with everyone, It's scary but once you've done it and see how successful you can be with it, it's worth every pain and panic attack you get. Make sure you talk about your fears.

Good luck and see you on the other side!

Ugggghhh, Xenical. I still grab my ass when I hear the word. Worst invention ever, I dont know how they can make this stuff, and get people to take it for an extended perios of time.

Back on topic. It is normal to second guess your decision, I was doing it right until they put me under, but I am so glad I went through with it.

Remember that it is alright to do this for yourself, you owe it to ourselves to regain our heath.

Andrew

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
