Any Sleeve to Bypass Revisions Here?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I had the sleeve four years ago. I never had any problem with acid reflux until I got the sleeve. Up until about a year ago, I was able to control it by taking one Prilosec every morning. If I missed that Prilosec, I was absolutely miserable. Now, one Prilosec a day doesn't work anymore. I am taking two a day, sucking down rolaids and carry saltine crackers with me everywhere. I have heard from many people that revising to bypass helps this issue. Between that, and the fact that I have finally accepted that I really need the benefits of malabsorption, etc., I really want to revise. However, this is 100% going to depend on whether or not I can get insurance approval.

So, basically I am interested in hearing if any of you are revisions from sleeve, did it help you with your reflux and have you found you have had more success with the bypass.

Susan,

I had the lap band in 2006. I did very well with it for 2 years. I went from 200 lbs down to 130 lbs. At that point I was not able to eat much without constant pain. So, in 2009 I revised to the sleeve. I loved the sleeve!!! But, in 2012 I started having severe bile reflux and vomiting up blood. The doc said the only thing I could do was revise to the bypass. So, after fighting the revision for over a year, I had the sleeve to bypass done 7 weeks ago (Jan 8th). It has been a very difficult recovery. I finally am feeling good. Actually, I am now feeling great!! I dropped a little more weight even though I was fine at the weight I was. I am now 123 lbs. I had my surgery done in Mexicali,

Mexico with the same doctor who did my sleeve. Hope all goes well with you.

Wow, our stories are so close it's freaky! I got the band in 2006 as well, and had an awful experience. I revised to the sleeve in 2009. Now, I am hoping to revise to bypass. I am glad to hear you are doing well now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
