Creative uses for Whey Protein Isolates

Recommended Posts

I am 5 days post op and I would love to hear how some of you use the whey Protein isolates. I am aware of the 140• degree aspect. I am able to get Premier Protein in chocolate down OK, pretty thick. I really like the New Whey Liquid Protein "shots" 42 grams of protein in blue raspberry and grape mixed with Water, they are $3.75 each at my Dr office and I found them for just over $2 each online. I have a tub of whey protein isolates and am looking for cool ideas. Thanks all!

I don't think you need to worry about the 140 degree aspect. My nutritionist has me adding unflavored Protein to alot of things that are over 140 degrees. BUT after getting negative feedback on the subject of >140 on forums I did some research. From what I understand, yes, Protein powders do "denature" at >140 BUT they do not lose their nutrition value. If they have 30 gr of protein at 78 degrees, they have that much protein at 200 degrees. It is like an egg. heat it up to >140 degrees and it changes form but it still has the same protein value. I mix it with blended Soups, coffee, and will add to oatmeal and other things when I am able to eat them.

It may not chemically change, but above 140° and it turns into a clumpy disgusting mess.

My favorite thing is to make meatball size balls with chocolate whey Protein and Peanut Butter, real thick like playdough. Then I chill them in the fridge and grab one if I have a day when I must have a something in between lunch and dinner.

I have not found this to be true. I have more issues with clumping at cold temps. If it is somewhat clumpy, I just use a whisk for a few seconds and it is fine. I use Isopure unflavored.

Is it literally just Protein powder and Peanut Butter? Cause this sounds good, and an easy way to get protein! :)

I have. I've tried Bariatric fusion and unjury. Both clump when in warm liquids. Doesn't matter how much I stir or shake, the clumps just don't go away.

I use Unjury chocolate splendor 3 scoops and 3/4 cup reduced fat Jif Peanut Butter. Makes 11 balls for 131 calories per ball and 10 HMS of Protein. The recipe is on the Unjury website.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
