Chantix for quitting smoking

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if any of you have ever used Chantix to quit smoking. I just started on the program today. Were you able to quit within the 7 days? I think I'm on the program for 3 or 4 months.:clap2:

My girlfriend who has smoked for 30 years was able to quit in 5 days of using the drug and has not smoked for a month now. She says it's a wonder drug. Her husband is also successfully using it... he had a 2+ pack/day habit and is in an office with 3 smokers ....and he has quit also. The only side effects that they complain of is slight nausea for an hour or so in the evenings.

WASabubble butt, I don't really know how it works but it does. With my experience today I feel like I just don't want to smoke. I think it must affect the brain sensors for nicotine or something. I just felt really funny picking up a smoke today. I can't describe it other than the fact that it doesn't taste that good. It is taking me a long time to finish one and I haven't really been able to. I just started the drug today. I think it is a miracle drug,,,I swear! Let me know when you start okay. Julie

I am a true believer in Chantix. I started taking Chantix January 11 and my quit day was January 17. I have not smoke one time. I am now 10 weeks SMOKE FREE:clap2: .

I have smoked for 22 years and have tried many times. It is amazing how great I feel and how much better I can breathe. I dont weeze at night when I sleep.

There really are very few cravings for me. Just last week it appeared to me that I havent even thought about smoking in about 3 days.

Not sure if your aware but Chantix website has an awesome support group that will either send you and email daily or make a phone call for support. It really helped me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
