How much to lose before plastics

Recommended Posts

I'm hope that someone can help answer this question. Can the plastic surgeon determine what your weight should be when you have surgery or maybe by looking at you that you don't need to lose any more weight? I have read a post somewhere on here that the surgeon wanted them to be at a certain fat %. It may have been because they wanted procedures to transfer fat to another location though. The procedures I want are a neck lift, breast lift, arms, and Tummy Tuck (or LBL, not sure yet). I'm 5'11" and 181. I did a body analysis and my lean body weight is 133. The lowest I can remember ever being was 155. My goal weight is 175, but it was just an arbitrary number I decided on, it was not given to me by a doctor. I've been stuck and bouncing around the lower 180's since September. I've been running a lot and really having a hard time balancing my need to eat enough for energy to run and the amount I need to eat to lose 6 pounds to get to goal weight.

Ever doctor is different for what they want you to be. I was 180 when I had my Tummy Tuck and breast augmentation. And im now 155 not because of those surgeries but because I kept losing after I probably should have waited a little longer. But if you want to be 175 then your pretty close id say your ready.

Hi deedadble.

Having recently gone through consultation, ITA with previous poster. All doctors are different. They don't vary widely but they will tell you want they need to give you the outcome you want. So it's a good time to go for consult. My plastic surgeon said I could not lose one more pound. It's not just about what you weigh but the condition of your skin and skin versus fat, etc. I think you'll find consult helpful. Let us know! Excited for you :)

Thanks for the responses! I think I'm going to go ahead and schedule a consultation. I'm considering going to Mexico (Dr. Sauceda is on the top of my list), but want to make sure I consider local options too. I had my WLS in Mexico, so I would be okay with that decision, plus my sister is an RN and would be going with me to help. I'll let you know how it goes!

I am 20lbs from my doctors goal. Where I am now was my personal goal. I am looking into laser Lipo. It takes longer usually 3 treatments a week for a number of weeks based on your body. My surgeon and the laser lipo doc both said it was great for lapband patients. Will keep you posted :)

I was wondering if you could explain this laser lipo a bit more, I have never heard of it before! Thanks :-)

This is the machine the Dr I am going to uses. You can YouTube it or use any search engine to do your research. I found out lots of information but noting on was it safe for wls ppl. I had the talk with my band surgeon who ok'd it and with the dr doing the laser Lipo to make sure this was best for me. Hope this helps :)

The YOLO Curve non-invasive treatment is considered one of the most innovative methods to treat stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. It emits low levels laser energy and the fat cell membranes are disrupted releasing intra-cellular fat. This causes the cell to lose its round shape by changing the permeability of the cell membrane. This does not affect the neighboring structures such as skin, blood vessels, and peripheral nerves.

Goal weight is a very personal thing and many people stop at a BMI a little higher and it suits them well.

What I was told during consults is that your results are fine as long as you stay within about 10% of your weight. i used that as a guidance and had my surgery at 150 pounds. I knew that I wanted to stay within 15# of that up or down no matter what.

If you lose alot more weight post plastics, you MAY have more loose skin.

Thanks Jane! I can't imagine ever getting down to 162, which would be 18 pounds less than my current low bounce weight. By the time I have surgery I'd like to be in the high 170's without bouncing around. Based on my current race and work schedule I think I'm going to shoot for getting surgery in May.

This is interesting but just to be clear - it does not address excess skin, right? In my case I didn't really have stubborn fat ... but stubborn skin...haha.

@@Hynita How are the results of your TT and aug after you lost the weight and got down to 155? Do you have excess skin in the tummy? Do the girls hang a little bit more?

I am going to need a tummy tuck revision from a tuck done in 2005 before I gained all of this weight.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
