Uh-Oh.....Nerves are starting to kick in a little

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden it hit me right smack in the forehead that I am having this surgery tomorrow. And for the very first time, I am scared. Up until right this minute, I was confident in my decision, and excited about it. WTH happened to me? So I ran to my computer and posted this. Hoping for some friends to make me less scared. What if something goes wrong? What if What if What if? Is this normal? I have scared myself silly!

It is totally normal to get nervous the night before surgery. I have had 13 (mostly cancers related) surgeries in the last 13 years, and the night before is always a bit nerve wracking with the "what ifs.". (Actually, most people experienc this much sooner).

BUT you will do just fine. VERY few complications with this surgery. The good news is, by the time you get to the hospital, they keep you busy, give you some nice drugs, and then you wake up. And it's all good. Good luck! Although you won't need luck. You will be fine.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I think I mentally blocked it out of my mind....that and I got approved so fast I was still in shock. How you feel is very normal. In some cases the surgeon will allow you to get a shot for anxiety to help you relax. I got one with my first surgery. When I had my VSG done the thought of getting up and leaving the hospital ran through my mind non stop. I am SOOOOO happy I went through with it...my family can already tell that im losing and im just 13 days post op. Think post op thoughts...focus on accomplishing your goal. You will do just fine.Saving room for you on the losers bench. :-)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
