Things I packed or had brought into me were:
books, slippers, own night gown or pjs dressing gown pair of thick socks.
I took a couple of pillows too (nhs I was only given 2 I needed more!)
Laptop pocket wifi.
Cleanser cottonwool night cream baby wipes as I wasn’t allowed to shower but ugh gross toothpaste toothbrush I didn’t bring it but mouth wash your mouth feels like utter crap I think I brushed my teeth like every 20mins and ugh still all the time.
Hairbrush dry Shampoo deodorant.

No point for me taking in drink or anything Water wasn’t my friend the hospital give me hot Water (blugh) or tea when I wanted a drink so for me no point in water and they give you jugs of it here.
No point taking in food either.
You just need things to while away the boring hours and some personal items to make you feel human.

Funny little story I was done last of the day so it was around 10pm before I was put on ward they were trying to carefully move me to the bed and I was mumbling and monaing my mum asked me what I wanted I said BATHROOM! They were like we will get you a bed pan hold on dear I said NO! and just walked off trailing my iv in a daze lol
Then when I got back more pointing and mumbles mum asked me what now and I said CLOTHES!
And proceeded to strip off in a drunken manner and shove my own pjs on before I allowed them to put me in the bed to go to sleep lol
I didn’t want to be in a gown my mum was laughing her head off at me coz I was all snappy and just making sounds sitting on a chair till they allowed me to just do what I wanted lol

My surgery date is the 20th so I'm wondering about what to bring too. I heard chapstick is really good because your lips are going to be parched because you can't drink anything and I heard Gas X strips to place on your tongue are really helpful too because you're going to be full of gas and I heard it's pretty painful.

I had IVs and such so my own pajamas were not an option. Also they put those pump things on your legs to prevent clots so they generally don't want you wearing pajama pants. For me the hospital gown was so much easier. Chap stick and gas X are a must. Also bring a go pair of slip on slippers so you can walk the halls comfortably. I didn't feel like reading or doing anything on the computer. An Ipad or Iphone to play music to relax you might be nice. Other than that the only other thing you need is an advocate. Somebody there to help you get up and down as your stomach will be hurting. Good luck.

I feed my iv bag down the sleeve of my pjs when I demanded I put mine on lol
I forgot about the chap stick or for me vasaline that is a must for sure!
I didn’t take anything for gas as they give me peppermint oil periodically throughout the day to deal with that.
Also them leg thingies that inflate and deflate to “move” your legs are velcro strapped which they take off when they have you up walking which they do the very next day as walking around helps with gas and helps clear your lungs so you don’t developed Fluid on them so pjs are fine if you want them.
I was always in and out of my leg compression things can’t sit still for very long!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
