I know this is not an excuse and I shouldn't have done but I did. Hardcore. I was traveling on business my first three days of the preop diet and it was super hard to get out of the paid for lunches and dinners and what have you. I did pretty well on the first two days but the last day we went out to Ruth Kris Steakhouse and well, you can figure out the rest :/ is the preop diet a lost hope now ??? I'm jumping back into routine on day 4 and plan on fully sticking with the pre op, but really it was super hard with travel. #vent

You'll be fine, don't worry. How many days is your pre-op diet?

Don't sweat it, as long as you jump right back in and stick to the plan. I also struggled with my pre-op diet and had some cheats, but we're not perfect and it can happen. Just do what you know you have to do and keep moving forward.

I am going to be totally honest here..... I cheated too. Couple times. I was so worried my liver would be big and slippery and they wouldn't be able to perform surgery. To make matters worse I have high cholesterol so one could assume I have an even 'fattier' liver than someone who does not. My surgeon said my liver was just fine and everything went very smooth. Try and stay on course now. Forget about it, move on and do better tomorrow. :)

I'm getting my op on Monday and I have not been an angel with my pre op diet either ????

I have wondered about it & I do try every day and I am a good 85% true but I am not making 100% I don't think it will make much difference. Maybe pain afterwards will be worse? I don kno.

Ppl have major emergency surgery every day and r ok so they are trying to make an ideal situation but the reason we are getting the surgery is we can't control our eating so, what dya expect? Xx

Keep going forward. You will have issues following surgery also, and you have to learn to make this surgery work or fail. Our NUT said we have one honeymoon period following the sleeve to lose the weight, and if we do not eat right, we won't lose the weight.......

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
