Last supper in Tijuana

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am going to TJ for my band in May and I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a good restaurant near the Hotel Lucerna for my 'last supper'?

Thanks,

Laura

Thanks Jack, but I already know what I will be eating for my first supper post-op (jello and broth - body willing). I don't really have 'last supper syndrome', I'm just looking for a nice place to eat.

Cheers,

Laura

I was banded by Ortiz in March of last yr and I went to a nice Mexican place across the street from the pharmacy (farmacia) which is directly across the street from the Lucerna. There is also a pizza Hut right next to the Hotel too. What we did is go to the Revolucion area (cab is like $2) and there is alot of yummy restaurants. We had some drinks and chips at another mexican restaurant on the strip ( I know, I ate ALOT before my surgery but I was starving...LOL :welldoneclap: ) Good luck to you!!

The BEST restaurant is right in the Lucerna next to the pool. The food is exquisite!! There is a pianist that plays while you eat. Now this is grilled fare. If you want Mexican food, there are plenty of those around, too.

Whatever you do don't eat the Carne Asada that Dr. Miranda recommends from the Hotel Lucerna restaurant (that's in the lobby). It was so fatty I couldn't even eat it. Yuck!

Mexico doctors don't recommend the pre-operative diet (liquids only)? What's up with that?

I did have to do the pre-op diet. I had to do 10 days of Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch plus a Lean Cuisine for dinner. I know that the diet each person is prescribed is based on their health and start weight. However, the day of my pre-op testing the nutritionist, Dr. Miranda, said I could have a light dinner that night and recommended the carne asada. Hope that clarifies my previous statement!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
