Hospital Asked us to be in a video

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The hospital that I had my sleeve done and my husband had his gastric bypass is asking us to do a video for their website and it will also be used at a fundraiser. My question is: I really want to have plastic surgery when I am done losing my weight. I am down 94 pounds and I still want to lose another 70-80. I know I am going to have skin issues, I already have issues with my thighs and arms and I am sure my stomach is going to be an issue. (I would also like to have a breast lift) Do you think I should ask the hospital for them to donate some of these services for me or give me a discount in exchange for the video? I just don’t want to come off like I expect them to do that for me in exchange for the video, but it would be really nice if they could help me out with it.

Nothing wrong with a little negotiation! Afterall.... you are sacrificing your privacy/confidentiality. I would present it like "I would love to do this because it is for a good cause... I am honored to have been chosen and I do not want to make this about me But...... " Can't hurt. Maybe they can wave hospital stay. I am sure you will have to still pay surgeon and anesthesiologists.

You can ask for sure. I'd be surprised it they would do it (she says cynically), but it never hurts to try. Let us know what happens. Personally I would never do a video like that for any amount, I'm too private, but that's just me. However, I love watching other people and those videos are so necessary. Glad someone is open to doing them.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
