Just Banded - Strong Recommendation!!!

Recommended Posts

To Everyone Considering getting banded:

I can't recommend this site strongly enough. I was just banded on Monday 3/26 - and i have found the entire process pretty amazing.

Every step along the way has been almost familiar because of the information shared by the wonderful, courageous, warm, and generous people that post to this site.

I spent a good deal of time reading the entries on this site for many weeks prior to my actual surgery, and I have to say it has really made the process so much easier and understandable.

Thank You All for everything. :clap2: :kiss2: :clap2:

I agree wholeheartedly---I do not know how I would have handled this last year, without LBT!!!

When I have a question or an issue I wonder about---someone is always willing to at least discuss it, even if no one has a concrete answer. The people are friendly, and supportive, and I will say, I love my band, but the friends I have made here at this site, are without a doubt one of the best things about my band!!!

Glad to see you up and abpout and posting so soon after surgery!!! Hope your recovery and post op diet go well---we will be here pulling for you!!!

Kat

I had the same experience. From reading this site, getting banded was like "deja vu all over again."

Yep! And in the first 2 weeks after surgery, this site was my LIFELINE. It was so reassuring to know that there were people out there going through the exact same thing at the exact same time, and that we all had the benefit of veteran bandster's experiences and advice. What a great website!

Hello!

Well I finally got banded yesterday. I have just been released from hospital today.

Too be honest, I am hurting pretty bad. I know it will pass over the next few days, but for the moment, it's pretty intense.

The Dr has given me 1000g of Paracetamol to take every 5 hours. I was just wondering if there are any other pain killers I can safely take alongside the Paracetamol to give it a boost?

Dave

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
