Questions to ask at the consultation

Recommended Posts

Robgoblin - You should call TCC and tell them you are coming from far away and want to forego the appt with Lori for one with the Dr. only then maybe you can arrange the TCC appt for morning and TLBC for the pm and have a productive day. Absolutely do not waste your time with the so called qualifying appt with Lori. See if you still are covered by ohip though for the appt with the Dr.

Good Luck D

Alright, sounds like a better idea because i might've cancelled it in general. I dont know...either way i think ill end up at the tlbc. But yeah, ill give it a shot and if they dont do that i think i will. Also what do you mean about OHIP covering... i never heard of that. I even called my insurance provider and they dont do too much. Definitely dont pay for device or surgery. More likely they'd cover fills or things of that nature (assuming, definitely didnt check) i believe their words were theyd pay for things that would maintain the medical device or i dont know...something in that ball park and a fill seems to classify as that. Oh well...we'll see. But yeah if you can hit me back about the OHIP, i would be REALLY happy if the Govt. paid ANY of it.

robgoblin...make sure when you get a bill/invoice that it is completely itemized....that way you can submit it to your private insurer and likely they will cover some of it....ie. perhaps the anesthesia part, or meds used etc.....they probably won't cover the band itself....but some fees may be covered. But, in order to consider it, they will need the bill specifically itemized etc.

Robgoblin - the OHIP part was covering the consult with the DR. I think that you have to be referred by Lori. When you call to see if you can forego appt with her, ask if consult will still be covered by OHIP

p.s. I have already called TLBC and have an appt for Apr 13. I would have gone earlier but I will be away on vacation. They said everybody goes on a preop diet it may be different in lenght of time per patient. When I go, I will book my surgery for asap. I have already decided and the money is set to go.......so sad oh well onward and downward (the scale that is!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
