All Pre-op requirements are done

Recommended Posts

So today I had the last two of my pre-op requirements done, I saw the Nut and the Psych. They have all said I am good to go, so now what happens from here? I am not to sure of the process.

Thanks

Now, you just have to wait for your surgeon's office to submit all of your information to your insurance, and wait for approval! The approval process varies from insurance to insurance. It could range from a few days to a few weeks. I would call your surgeon's office in about a week or so to make sure they submitted everything. When I called in to check if my surgeon's office had, they hadn't yet, and it took that call to get the ball rolling again! Good luck!

Call them, leave a message then call again the next day! It worked for me! The squeaky wheel get's the grease! By law (in California at least) they have 72 hours to approve or deny a claim. If it takes longer then this then doctors office may have not placed the request for the surgery.

Ok now I am confused, when I first started this process my surgeon's office said I was approved by my insurance already. How come I hear of a lot of you saying that you are waiting for insurance approval process after your done with your pre-op requirements?

Different insurance have different requirements. With mine I made an inquiry in the morning, and ahead an answer that afternoon. A friend of mine had to wait two weeks..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
