Looking for advice

Recommended Posts

I believe I have met my first stall. I'm 7 weeks out and down 35 pounds from SW of 313 on 12/17. I track my weight daily and have seen sort of a down hill roller coast over the last month and a half. Lose two, gain one, no gain, lose two, etc. But I have now been stuck with in a pound of 277 for 10 days.

I work out 4 times a week. Two with a trainer and two cardio days in my own. I also walk about 4 miles a week and trying to increase that.

My calories are around 875 a day and I'm getting at least 80 grams if Protein and usually less than 30 grams of carbs.

Is there something I'm missing? I know these stalls happen but was hoping in some advice to jump start the weight loss again.

Hide the scale and continue doing what you are doing. It will break ,it has too. Your body goes into a rest when it feels threatened. The scale will move again once the body has caught up with the changes and decides you are okay. It will start to release more weight...

Don't cut your Protein and don't cut your liquid and don't cut your calories..Stay on track....Your going to make it....

You are doing great! Keep doing what you're doing and the weight will fall off eventually. I wish I was as strict as you...

I'm with RJ - hide the scale.

Look at your numbers - you're going to lose weight. You're body just goes thru adjustment periods or stalls.

You can only control what you put in your mouth and how much you move your body - if you do your part, your body will do it's part...in its own timeframe.

You're doing great - hang in there.

I agree with the first response, hide the scales and don't look at again until 6mths post surgery. My surgeon say's this is about the time your body will have completely adjusted to the new way of life and the number you see then will be about the mark you'll hang around.

The scales are a road to ruin and we all new that prior to the surgery, how many times did we give up in the past because the scales didn't say what we'd hoped they would. The activity you are doing will show you results so just let them happen.

Thanks. I needed to hear all of this. I just worry that at 31 years old with almost all of them being obese that my body won't let me get thinner.

But I know that if I'm patient and keep at it it has to work. It has to.

It's crazy that you think I'm strict mommysonadiet. I feel like I'm must be too loose in the rules if the weight is not coming off. I'll just keep telling myself, this too shall pass.

Do any if you think it would be a good idea to up the workouts to five or six days a week? What about upping the Water to 80-90 ounces?

One of the veterans on this forum, ButterTheBean, has this as part of his signature:

The 3 week stall.....If you just had surgery and your weight loss has already stalled, read THIS.

It's a very helpful article - I recommend it!

That was a great article. I guess I'm lucky I went 7 weeks without a stall. I'm scared to try the calorie shock cause I don't want to gain. I'm gonna try to up my Water intake to make sure I flush everything out as I can tell from my breath I'm in ketosis. Lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
