Any july surgery dates?

Recommended Posts

Hi There :) Because my insurance requires 6 months of classes before surgery, I'm expecting to be sleeved sometime in July as well! Tomorrow is my second of the six classes. I'm so excited! I'm doing my best to use this time to prepare and start making the changes that will be part of my new life. I've cut out soda, bring my Breakfast and lunch to work (it helps that I work at the same hospital as my surgeon, and every time I'd run into him in the cafe I felt guilty and knew i wasn't putting in the work I need to, lol). I've cut back on my coffee, and will be transitioning to Decaf next. I've lost a few pounds just making these changes, which makes me feel great. I'm committed to the life I want to have after surgery! Have you ever watched "My 600 Lb Life" on TLC, I think it is?? Some are success stores, but some are really eye opening to how serious the docs are about surgery being a tool. The people who weren't prepared to really put in the work and make changes are not successful. Some have even managed to GAIN weight after surgery! I do not want to be that person! Anyway, happy to see another July sleever on here! I'm sure there are many more of us, and hopefully we can all support each other. :)

Yes I am starting month two of my 6 month physician supervised program. I lost 5 lbs in the first month so I feel good! I cut out soda the first of January. I don't do coffee but I do drink tea. Going to start using a sugar substitute. My surgeon is the best!! I meet with the dietician on Monday. So excited to hear her suggestions and insight. Have started doing research into foods and things for right after surgery. Got a few samples from Bariatric Choice.

I'm lurking on both the June and July boards. I will finish my nutritional counseling late June. So my surgery date will probably be in July. I go for my second visit on Thursday. Now I just need to find a doc.

Without 3,4,5 or more incisions ....only one in your belly button.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
