Hi Everyone, I was banded on 3/21/07 and I am doing great! I have a #10 band and I am down 9 pounds. My husband was banded on 2/28/07 with a VG band, he is down 37 pounds.

It kinda all happened so quick, we saw this add in our local magazine and decided that we needed to due something about our weight my husband BMI was 35 mine was 30. So we gave ourselfs a month to try it on our own, we failed. So we met with the best surgeon we could find that Specializes in lapband, Doctor Joseph Naim, took a loan out and had the surgery, we are officially on our way to a heathier life. My husband's recovery was different then mine, he was down 2 weeks, took all his pain med's and complained all the time. Today he has so much energy, he feels great and sometimes has very little pain in the port area. I on the other hand feel that after 2 C-sections this was a walk in the park. Very little pain medication the first day, absolutely no gas pain. The only thing I do have is that I get sick at night, I feel my Soup from lunch coming up at 1am, its hard to get comfortable in the bed, I get nauseated, so I sit up have some Water, wait a couple of minutes and try to get to sleep again. I constantly have a bad taste in my mouth??

I can't wait to lose a significant amount of weight. BUt I remember looking up at that ceiling in the operating room scarred, nervous and thinking I am adding another 10 years to my life.

When I think about last month where I was, I can't believe I did it!

Thanks to everyone on this website, with out all the great information I would have never done it! Your knowledge so valuable to me:) .

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
