craving

I'm one week out and craving tomatoes so bad. Tomato soup, pizza, spaghetti sauce etc that kind of stuff. I'm thinking a couple sips of tomato soup would be ok!?!?!

  • Tomato soup was my good friend for a couple of weeks. I found it much easier to tolerate warm fluids instead of cold. Good luck to you! It will get better.

If u are on full liquids that surely would be ok.. Watch the salt content of the soup u choose. And congrats on your surgery. U r on the other side ..:)

Tomato soup should be ok, I added a teaspoon of plain greek yogurt in mine to add a little protein.

Thank you all for responding. Actually my surgeon says he doesn't care and I can do pureed foods at this point, but I can't tolerate anything. I just took one small bite of vanilla pudding and I am already paying for it. I feel like I am starving, I can't find anything I can tolerate other than water.

People are generally allowed pureed food in their second week post-op. It may take some more time in some cases like yours. As you said that you could not tolerate the vanilla pudding, it clearly indicates that you should not try pureed food yet. Give it some more time. I guess 2-3 days should do or 5 days at most. I am sure you should be fine by then. Congrats, and all the best.

Of course it did take an entire week to finish a family size can of the stuff, but it was so worth it! In fact, it sounds good right now! LOL

I can tolerate tomato soup, but diced tomatoes went through me like a sieve.
