Hi I am in day 4 of my pre op diet. I am scheduled feb 10th for my gastric sleeve. I am wondering if there are some filling recipes anyone has found for the pre op. I'm starving!

Why is this restriction so hard? Why do we have to follow it? Isn't that why we want the surgery? What's the logic behind this? Maybe if I knew why than I could understand why it's so important.

I hear you...generally the reason is that with the weight our livers became fatty. Hence alleviating some of that by lowering the fat content. This will help our survival through surgery. It's also to put us into the habit of eating less before the surgery. Helps put us in the right mindset for after...hope this helps.

I'm allowed a small lean meat and green veggies once a day. I can have fat free yogurts, sugar free jellos, protein shakes,.. Things like that. But it's def not filling and I'm hungry. Blah

I'm the same and I'm not hungry at all. My protein has been over 100g a day and my carbs below 30. I'm in ketosis and burning fat like crazy.

Hello All,

My surgery is scheduled for March 3, 2014 so I will be starting my pre-op diet SOON. I am so nervous because I've never had to go on a liquid diet for two weeks before. Does the pre-op diet get easier?

After the first 2 days I was fine. I am starting day 6 today and since I'm getting over 100g protein n less than 30 carbs I have no real hunger. Only the hunger that's in my brain thinking about fast foods and high carb foods. But that's easy to beat if you stick your mind to it.

No mine is at 9:45 but I have to be there early.

Oh ok. I have to be there at 6 but my surgery is at 730. I'll be praying all goes well for both of us!

Thank you for your reply.... will u please clarify something for me? Ok, so the protein powder im using says its 150 calories...is that before the milk?

Should be. But you can mix it with water if you must. Or almond milk, coconut milk or skim milk to keep calories at a minimum.

I'm on the same diet but I add protein powder to everything I can. Puddings and yogurts. If you'll keep the carbs super low and the protein high they'll go away. Also there is a difference in feeling "hungry" and feeling "empty". We are used to always feeling full. Right now we are more empty than hungry. Hang in there. You have lots of others going through the same thing.

These are hunger pangs on steroids!!!! I don't like em. And honestly... I don't feel the need to eat... I just want those pangs to stop. I think they are more spasm-like to be honest. Bentyl helps a lot.

Best of luck today Heather! Talk to you soon!!

Oh I can't wait to hear from you guys!!! May everything go smoothly!!

Hey Heather! I hope everything went well and you're not in too much pain!! Get some rest! I'll talk to you soon!!
