My surgeon came to see me right before I went in to the operating room and asked how I did on the diet... I said I had a couple set backs. He explained the diet helps to rid your liver of toxins and studies show that those patients that do well on diet and detox their liver have a significantly less chance of complications.

Why is this restriction so hard? Why do we have to follow it? Isn't that why we want the surgery? What's the logic behind this? Maybe if I knew why than I could understand why it's so important.

Your liver has to shrink. Because if it is too fatty they cannot do the surgery.

Mont they have to shrink your liver to make the surgery easier. They actually lift the liver up to get to your stomach so by detoxing the liver it becomes smaller and easer to work with.

Well today us over. 3 more days!!!! Met my surgeon today... He's really funny and has a calming effect on ur nerves. I'm so very excited! His words of wisdom to me today were: "your first month you are Gona hate it and wish you had never done it. BUT after that you will be stopping by just to tell us how wonderful you think it is! I've never had someone disappointed yet!"

So... I'm so excited to start my new life and finally feel and look sexy for my self and my husband!

From what I understand, the pre op is so that we shrink the fat off of our liver so that the doc can see our stomach better. If he cant see the stomach past the liver, the doc is going to have to cut open the abdomen. This means a MUCH longer recovery time, more pain, more risks.

Glad it is going well for you. what did you eat after your surgery? I'm on day 7 of preop and surgery is 1 week from tomorrow I can't wait. did you get release early the day after of late afternoon?

How far from your home is your surgery?

2 MORE DAYS!!! I leave tomorrow!

Wahoo! Can't wait to hear from you post-op!

Added some coffee extract to my boring vanilla shake this morning. It made it a little nicer. Can't wait til Thursday. Just keep swimming.
