Hi Aasma, I'm Italian and live in Milan. This forum is great and supportive.

It was lucky of me to have found it!

I was banded 2 years and 8 months ago. I lost 50/52 kg the first year, but gained 4/5 the second year, but I think only few people can maintain their lowest weight. I 've been the same weight for nearly a year now.

When I was banded I was 59 years old and, as you write, il was my last chance. That's why I was absolutely determined to make my band work.

Hello ,

Thank you for your reply.I think its amazing that you kept the weight off and just gained 4-5 kg .Did you have any trouble with the band generally and are you happy with your weight now?

Hello,

I didn't have any trouble with the band. I had also my gallbladder removed because there was a big stone in it. When I woke up from the anesthesia I felt a slight pain in my belly, which went away afer an hour. From that moment on, I have never had problems at all and no pain, no hearhburn, no reflux. The incisions didn't hurt or burn, but I felt as if I had been exercising for hours after a long period of inactivity. My muscles (those of my belly) ached when I had to get up or sit up and lie down.

I don't know if I am in the "green zone".sometimes I think I am, other times I am a bit doubtful about that.

I 'm satisfied with my weight loss, I'm no longer obese, but only in the medium range of overweight. I 'll be 62 next March 2nd and I think it wise to accept my current weight. That doesn't mean I ' ve given up achieving normal range. These days I've gone on a low-carb, low fat, high Protein diet.

I' not in hurry..one day at a time.We are powerless over past and future.

But TODAY we can do as much as we can to get where we want.

Best luck to you!!!

Pinky, trying to be informed about what you are going to do is right and understandable. But, if you go on collecting information (above all in the internet where anyone can say anything), you'll unavoidably find people who have been disappointed or worse..it is a question of statistics

I would suggest finding a surgeon you trust and few reliable people whose opinions you consider sensible , and making your your decision.

Hugs!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
